Oilers retain a part of his salary and will give Calgary a conditional pick. Edmonton won this trade despite still paying part of Lucic's salary.

Better check Lucic for syphilis before he joins the team.

A trade of necessity for both teams. Neal was beyond useless with the Flames, just horrible, an untradeable contract to any other team, glad he is gone and maybe he can recover his career with the Oilers but he couldn’t keep up with the Flames best how will he keep up with McDavid? Not expecting much from Lucic but maybe he puts the fear of god into players that want to knock Johnny around like the Avs did with near impunity in the playoffs?

That’s the thing, no expectations for lucic here while Neal was expected to co tribute. Lucic just a big body to inflict damage.

Neal has the ability to get back in top form playing with McDavid, Lucic is a useless plug with a brutal contract. Oilers clearly won that trade.

If Neal couldn't keep up with our top guys (and he was given ample opportunity to do just that), how on earth is he going to keep up with McDavid?

Honestly, at least Lucic has a role he can fill on the Flames, and won't complain about what he's being asked to do, even if he's being ridiculously overpaid for it. I didn't see any chance that Neal could do anything of value for the Flames, considering he fell flat on his face every time he was given a chance to show what he had last season, even being BENCHED in the last playoff game.

Can't remember who the hosts were, but on am 1040 they were theorizing that a Eriksson for Lucic deal was in place but Eriksson nixed it (NTC).

THese dead weight contracts are a killer.

Neal has a heck of a lot more upside offensively than Lucic…
Oilers have 3 guys who can dish the puck and have him shoot. Should be fine. He's already working out with McDaddy at Gary Robert's this summer, so that's good.
Lucic can run around crashing into people, fight the odd guy, all while lead footing and stone handing it. Maybe he is actually trying to change his game and fitness this summer and will make a bit of a come back, but it'd be hard to see happening. Tkachuk can be the slew foot and turtle king now, lucic can clean up his mess.

Neal drags his line mates down, he might get better playing with RNH but RNH will get worse. Shouldn’t take long for fans in both cities to realize they just picked up another teams garbage, 32 year old players who’ve lost it don’t get better.

My favourite think about Tkachuck is that he back up his antics, dude doesn't turtle like Marchand or Kessler.

Are you serious? Kassian went after Tkachuk in a game last season and instead of answering the bell for some cheap shots he took in the first period, he literally turtled as Kass rag dolled him

Tkachuk is a pussy...cat

Why should a skill player fight a plug like Kassian, a scab who only fights smaller guys. Never saw him answerin. The bell against the flames when he was a Canuck.

Point is that Tkachuk was lauded as a guy that backs up his antics and doesn't turtle, video evidence proves that to be totally false

I guess you could say he should take the fight with Kassian or whoever in order to show that he backs up his antics. Or, he could just stop being a prick out there and focus on offense

The new arena should be open just as Lucic's contract is up.
My god that's a long time.

Kassian is a useless goon, Tkachuck isn't going to do him the honour of offsetting penalties. If he hit Kassian first, then he would stand up to him, he's not going to fight a bigger guy who is a useless plug just so Kassian can contribut something to a game. Shit, the Oilers are the only team that would give that guys any sort of decent minutes lol.

That was a stupid time to fight anyway, Tkachuck was trying to play hockey, if Kassian had a brain he would have let it go after Tkachuck tried to keep playing. Dude will answer the call, but not when it will be a loss to his team lol.

Well, when a useless shit like Kassian decides to earn his paycheck, Lucic can fight him. Makes sense to have a goon fight a goon and leave the skill players to play the actual game. Can't wait to see Chucky get Oilers fans all riled up again this year!

Neil achieved in one year what it took Lucic 3 years, to become totally useless to his team. Thanks to the Oilers for paying his $3 million dollar bonus this month before trading him!
