Ottawa, we don't have many pure Art Deco buildings like MTL and TO, but we have a few with Art Deco inspired architecture.

The Merit

Hudson Park

And many other projects by Charlesfort (http://charlesfort.ca/home.php).

The Barron building in Calgary is the only real example I can think of here. It's being redeveloped but keeping the main facade as it is now designated a historic building.

Here is the proposed redevelopment.

Again, a bit of a stretch for Ottawa, but the 1934 version of the now demolished Ogilvy Building, I think, had a bit of an Art Deco vibe. The first 3 floors designed by W.E. Nofke (1907-1916) and the top 2 floors by A. J. Hazelgrove (1931-1934).

A couple from Halifax.

Dominion Building:

Bank of Nova Scotia

Bank of Nova Scotia next to the more neoclassical Provincial Building and the old post office:

And an obscure highrise with some Art Deco-like design elements (probably from 1940 or so?). The Bethune Building:

The Queen Street infirmary was Art Deco, but it was demolished around 2005 or so. Too bad:

The Montreal contribution is stunning. I didn't know the Empress was still around. Amazing!

Beautiful pictures, everyone.

These are the two main examples in the Downtown of St. John's:

Obviously, based on Miami's Art Deco District.

Beyond that, I'm not altogether certain which buildings qualify as art deco. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary's former headquarters in Fort Townshend looks like many of the Montreal examples. Vancouver City Hall, on which our Confederation Building is modeled, is art deco. A handful of buildings along Water Street, such as Apothecary Hall and King George V Hotel, are probably art deco-ish.

My favourite example in Ottawa is the Supreme Court of Canada. The mash-up of Art Deco and Canadian Chateau shouldn't really work, but it does.

A few more of Saint-Joseph Oratory, which is one of the largest art deco interior space in the world. The giant luminary ring is also one of the largest such art deco light fixture anywhere.

Ya, it's pretty cool. Very different from the rest of Parliament Hill's architecture.

I can't believe I forgot Eamon's camp gas station in Calgary! Right now it has been moved off its original site and is waiting for expressions of interest so that it can be preserved. It was featured in a Corey Hart video I believe.

Here's another gas station just outside Calgary in Balzac. Reminds me of an Edward Hopper painting.

More Art Moderne than Deco? Like the Stampede Corral.
