Not the old building that says Heaneys storage (the old "Board of Trade" building). I'm talking about the modern horizontal windows right beside it.

edit: Here's a picture. I find such banks of plain modern windows and their horizontal lines to be very jarring and intrusive in the historic district. Vibe killer. (I was going to criticize the front side of it, too, but after checking pics I realize that it's not as bad as I like to think it is, even though it also has some strong horizontal lines. I think the modern construction dates from around 1970-1971? You can see it on the left side of this pic.)

That's interesting. I've never noticed that building before. I personally don't mind it. The building in old town that I think is horrible is the new Iron Works Building. I don't have a personal personal photo of it and couldn't find one of Flickr but I think it looks horrible.

I don't mind IronWorks, although I hope no other new buildings in the old town ever use the same cladding again. I also wish the second building (the one not on the corner) had used a mix of claddings as shown in the renderings rather than going all in with the Cor-Ten stuff.

Thanks for those links Aastra. They make Ironworks look nice. I'm slowly uploading my photos from my Butchart Gardens tour a couple of weeks ago. Once I finish uploading them on Flickr I'll share them on here.

I went to Butchart Gardens here in Victoria on September 27th and did a photo tour. I hadn't been there in years and it's such a beautiful place. I've uploaded over 70 photos onto my Flickr account so I'll share some on here. I might post most of them in a series of posts. I hope people don't mind flower photos on SSP...hahaha

I haven't been to Butchart Gardens in years - great pictures GS! I miss the lonely arbutus tree that used to be on the rise of land in the sunken gardens.

Here's a few focusing on the Hudson condo in Victoria, with a view of the rooftop of the old Hudson Bay building, and views from one of the suites. In behind this 25 storey condo you can see the pit where a 22 storey rental tower is under construction. All pics from VictoriaExecutiveSuites.ca

Great photos Zoomer. Thanks for sharing them.

I have taken a lot of skyline shots of Victoria over the years. I think it's amazing how much the city has grown over the past 15 years. I will share one before and after photo tonight.

The first photo was taken in September 2007 and the second photo in June 2020.

I thought I would post another before and after photo of Victoria's skyline. These photos were taken from the same location 13 years apart. The first photo was taken on Oct 6 2007 and the second photo was taken on Sept 20, 2020 Both photos were taken from Christmas Hill.

Thank you thankk you I didn't realize Victoria is that beautiful and urbanized...it is a real city then.

Before I thought Victoria was just some major buildings along the shore according to outdated and lame and one-sided pictures on Internet.

/\ Yes, it’s the exact same inner harbour shots that have been shared for decades, of the Parliament Buildings, the Empress Hotel, some boats.. lol. It’s more than a one horse tacky tourist town - we have several horses now. Most cities that aren’t New York, London or Tokyo have the same stock shot or two shared on the intranet or media, so it’s hard to get a good sense of what a city is all about for the average person. I’m actually a bit surprised you have a good mental image (even the description you provided) of Victoria BC Canada in your mind being from Antwerp! Hope you enjoy the pics, more to follow

Thanks Murphy and sorry for the late reply. I agree with you too. There's hardly any city or skyline shots on the internet of Victoria. I find it really strange. I really enjoy taking photos of the city. I share a lot on Facebook too and get a lot of kind compliments on there. Victoria has quite a nice downtown and a beautiful old town too and has Canada's oldest China town. It's growing really fast too. It also has some really cool developments that have been approved and some going through the approval process. Victoria is also one of Canada's most densest cities too.

I've been meaning to post some new photos. Hopefully by the weekend

Some more photos of Victoria to keep this thread going.
I took these photos with Zoomer a couple or Sunday ago. I ended up taking a lot of photos even after editing and saving them. I thought I would post my photos of Victoria's Chinatown that I took. Victoria has the second oldest Chinatown in North America. Only San Fransisco's is older.
