To be honest, it reminds me of midtown...

Central Hong Kong is the only part which reminds of Midtown Manhattan. It is super dense and has a massive amount of skyscrapers.

The Puxi side of Shanghai is super dense, where all the highrises sprout out of a blanketing of dense lowrises.

zoom - the terracotta roofs give the brown colour of the city from the air

....compared with the new Pudong side which is still terraforming, and completely lacks the density or old buildings. Ewww

Each building has its own personality... Idk, have you seen the movies with future NY skylines? I think it's going to look something like that... eventually. But it actually makes sense (in this case) considering the high population.

[Edit: But I do see the need for a skyline to flow cohesively...]

I think Guangzhou looks amazing. Certainly higher quality architecture than you see in Dubai's skyline.

Agreed, and the general layout of the pedestrian realm and city below looks far better too. I wouldn't checking out this city sometime.

With all the buildings around it lit up, I wonder how they will light this beast. I hope it is pin stripes up the side along the raised spandrel window treatment.
