Did the intersection of Third and Fairfax ever host electrified public transport? While no tracks are particularly evident, the overhead electric lines suggest something . . . along those lines.

Yes. Electric trolleybuses. Here's one northbound on Central Avenue just north of Industrial Street. "W. Third to Fairfax." Photo is dated June 7 1954.

The electric trolleybuses were so low-maintenance and reliable that many of them built in the USA in the 1940s and 1950s are still in service in other countries.

Grace Lee Whitney, an actress...undated but I would guess about 1960...again, location not specified but I would be surprised if this is not L.A.

Kim Novak, 1956....this is certainly in the city, the spinner rack has some Hollywood postcards.

Lana Turner, 1940...I think this could be the Sunset Plaza shops...

No, I wasn't blaming the constructor Otis. That's why I added the caveat that half of the wires were going to the neighbors as well.

When we replaced the electrical service to our home here in Pasadena, we wanted to put it where the old one was, to the rear of the north side. They insisted that it be put at the very front of the north side, so that the meter reader could get to it. That was a load of malarkey, because they installed a meter that is read remotely.

So while one City agency was making us jump through hoops doing stupid things to ensure a historically-accurate street view, another was doing its level best to destroy it.

And that's not the only time that sort of thing happened. We here in Pasadena are plagued with petty, sociopathic bureaucrats who get their thrills throwing their weight about. And it's only gotten worse since then.

LA cities now use drones to photograph your property from the air to see if you've made additions or improvements. Then they send the Property Tax investigators to your property to make additional assessments. Now your tax bill is higher.

These cheesecake photos are really interesting...especially the top two (well..especially #1 of Rosalind Roberts).
I mean, she's just standing there in a dirt lot holding books. I can't put into words why I find it so intriguing. It's like a good looking car-wreck.

I thought it would be interesting (and fun

) to try and figure out what motorcycle club these gentlemen belonged to. They might be parked in front of their club (or favorite bar?)
If you look closely, you can see that they're all wearing German helmets with the spike on top.
There's a distinct possibility that this is a gay motorcycle club.

Note that there are numbers along the whole length of the yellow curb.
