Interesting. I know that technically it's open 8:30-8:30 now, but I've seen people there way later. Hopefully once 1 WTC open (and definitely by 3 and the PATH occulus) access will be unrestricted 24/7.

That's what it looks like, although I should note that the glass will not open, that was nixed early on in the design changes (originally, the whole structure was supposed to open, pushing the tips of the south rafters only 3ft away from 3WTC) Calatrava is one crazy SOB. Imagine how much that would have cost.

Thanks...Never Knew that about the windows. As for the memorial, if you were in before 8:30, they let you stay and didn't kick anyone out, they just weren't letting any new people in

I don't think any photos or renders produced to date accurate portray the enormity of these rafters and give a sense of scale from the ground. They still have roughly 55% of the rafter to install on the further along north side, and already, as you can see in the photo above, they're enormous. The longest rafters will extend over 100ft above your head on the sidewalk below. It's seriously going to be amazing when it's finished.

Maybe I am seeing what I want to see, but ...

are they finally demolishing the smaller of the two garage-like structures in the work area in the north-east corner of the memorial?

Edit to add: It seems I was seeing things.

This is going to be just, amazing.

Does anyone have the actual distance the longest rafter is from 3WTC?

I hope they do a good job rustproofing the blades. Any bleed through will be painfully obvious and unsightly.

What's the webcam for this view please? I used to have it and took screenshots every day to see the progress. But then I changed jobs, and forgot to take the bookmark with me.
