I can never decide if I like Newark Penn Station or not. It's really saved by its functional, efficent layout, and the quality of its details, but, it almost feels like a 1980s PoMo interpretation of Art Deco. The main waiting room is excellent though.

I just remember standing in line @ penn station as some dorky lookin dude asked literally every question possible to the guy behind the window while some tough guy in the line verbally threatened to beat his ass if he didnt hurry, guess this guy really needed to get to manhattan as he offered 50 bucks for the last seat too.

Wow a city that has alot of potential!

Anyway who was the president who got to Newark and started touring around until he realize that it wasn't NYC? Or is that not a true story?

It has potential, and good to know that the rebound of Newark is still on a roll.

Any city in the shadow of New York falls under a shadow of coolness... Newark is no exception!

Always a pleasant surprise to see a Newark thread. One of the most comprehensive Newark downtown tours we've had here. Thanks for reminding us that NJ is more than malls and pine barrens.

Impressive and lots of potential. Putting one or two glassy 40 floor buildings in that skyline would bump it up with all the supporting cast already in place.
