I don't think the Purdy's Wharf photo is that unflattering. The waterfront is nice and busy. The parking lot is ugly but every city in Canada has them (although that whole end of the downtown is pretty much a disaster). There's this proposal for the triangular lot, although it's not under construction yet:

London is pretty similar size-wise but is not very attractive. It's unfortunate that the new towers that went up there were just clad in precast. Halifax does not have very high architectural standards for new buildings but at least they tend to be more varied and interesting.

The other big advantages are the setting and architectural history. Landmarks like the Town Clock are very rare in Canada.

No offense to you, but I cannot stand shots of Saskatoon from that angle. I think it's the least flattering, by far.
Mainly because of the monstrosity that is Hallmark Place. It's certainly not hard to pick out of those shots. Especially with its charming death ray sitting prominently on top.

Anyone have any good shots from the South East?

Sure the southeast has Hallmark Place in the distance, but with the northeast you get bird island or the sculpture garden. They soften up the harshness of Hallmark Place and the rest of the skyline for that matter .

I am very anxious to get this same shot later this spring when Wascana Lake is melted and when the trees are blooming, its looks too drab right now. But the skyline is still great.

I figured this thread needed to be revived.

Dusk shots of downtown Kitchener, from Filsinger Park in the west end.

Here are some pics of mine from BC's two smaller CMAs.

First is Victoria. I was there last week and took a couple pics from my hotel room at the Empress. This is only a small corner of Victoria's skyline (and also a new one). While Victoria does not have a massive skyline from afar it has a true big city feel when near. These towers are on the edge of downtown.

And here are some pics I took of Kelowna's skyline the first weekend of April. Also a growing city.

Both of these skylines will continue to grow. Remember, BC is more than just the Vancouver area!

Again, all photos are mine.

Cheers!

Thanks for the pics metro.

For one of the most photogenic and urban cities under 500k Victoria really gets little representation in the Canada section.

It is neither urban nor photogenic.

Our buildings might not be very tall, but they line up quite well. At least in Port Arthur.
