I hoped that it was going to be a nice development too; but unfortunately, I heard that it turns out to be a parking lot for the Purolator call center which is moving in the old Shoppers/Jean Coutu building (which is also being expanded) next door.

Unfortunate, but likely true. We already speculated here on the forum that there probably wouldn't be enough parking there given the hundreds of employees at Purolator.

It would have been better if they could have placed the parking somewhere out of sight (and out of mind),

May offered ideal conditions for construction in Dieppe

Interesting release from the City of Dieppe's website.

May offered ideal conditions for construction in Dieppe
Posted on Monday June 11, 2012

DIEPPE, N.B.
— During the month of May, 96 building permits were issued in Dieppe for a total of $9,462,142. The 12 permits issued in the commercial sector represented investments of $785,800, while the 84 residential building permits issued were valued at $8,676,342.

Major projects in May included:
Immeubles Vision Realty $2,197,400
Immeubles Perfection Realty $1,963,370
Tridev Corporation $1,007,700
Maisons Metropolitain Homes $777,210
Cadillac Fairview $529,000

“There is strong demand in the residential sector for both multifamily and single-family units,” said Pierre Dupuis, general manager of the Economic Development Corporation of the City of Dieppe. “In fact, permits issued for multifamily units represented half of the total number of permits issued in May. One of the Immeubles Vision Realty projects planned for Sunset Street that envisions commercial use on the ground floor and residential use on upper levels is a perfect example. Projects such as this are very much encouraged in order to achieve densification of Dieppe’s downtown area. This project fits well with our vision to be able to live, work and benefit from a vibrant and dynamic downtown.”

City of Dieppe mayor Yvon Lapierre is very pleased with these good results. “Sustained demand in both multifamily and single-family units is excellent news that confirms that Dieppe offers a community and social climate where people want to settle with their families.”

Since the beginning of 2012, 251 building permits have been issued for a total value of $27,132,903. Warm weather in recent months has definitely helped builders experience a good start to the construction season.

Planchodrome Dieppe Skatepark

After a $350,000 expansion, the state-of-the-art skatepark is now open.

The facility is owned and operated by the Dieppe Youth House and it is located next to l'École Mathieu-Martin.

I realize that for some of you this is kinda old news but it was not mentioned here so...

Follow this link for more picture of the park.

Not development-related, but it was great to see such a huge turnout for the 15 août concert at Place 1604 tonight!

Unfortunately there weren't many good vantage points to get a crowd shot because of where the stage was positioned. I'm sure the T&T or L'Acadie nouvelle had some good stuff though. The concert was broadcast on Radio Canada live.

Here is a picture of the development that has been rumoured to be a parking for the Purolators employees. I find that it's a rather large hole for a parking lot.
It may have something to do with the old gas station that was across the street many years ago, because I asked a construction worker and he said they were cleaning up something.

I don't think this has been posted before:

This is a rendering of the new home for Mike's Bike Shop, being built in the Dieppe Industrial Park.

I wasn't sure, it looked kinda familiar but I checked the Dieppe thread and didn't see the render anywhere so I decided to post it.

We'll try again. The render below is of the new Jean Coutu being built across the street from the Co-op on Dieppe Blvd.

Construction of this building is also well underway.... Sorry that the pic is blurry, but you get the idea.

Phone pics of the new apartments being built on Acadie/Amirault in Dieppe at the Chartersville intersection behind the Tim's.

Looks a lot nicer than the trailer park it replaced.

Yes, a definite improvement over the trailer park!

The only thing that worries me about this development is that it is right down on the marsh. One wonders what might happen the next time we get a "Saxby Gale" level event.....

They started on that Sunset building about 2-3 months ago. Underground parking (I think), commercial on first, and residential on top.
