More drinkie-drinks!

We noticed ‘Halfway Crooks’ when we were tipsily walking to Taco Boys last night after a little too much fun at The Pemberton. I peeked my head in just a bit, but the pictures on the article look better. I was surprised how quickly this went up since that space has been flipped many a few times (Smooth Brew, then ‘The W’) and there wasn’t a lot of build up press.

I think the same folks are almost done with the other bars across the street (between Taco Chelo and Trapp Haus - which also expanded).

Check out this article from azcentral: Downtown Phoenix welcomes 3 new cocktail hot spots to Roosevelt Row. Here's what to expect https://www.azcentral.com/story/entertainment/dining/cocktails/2022/03/26/new-downtown-phoenix-cocktail-bars-khla-ghost-donkey-halfway-crooks/7097153001/

Thanks Thespaindave!

With ATL wings opening up across the street in the near future, this intersection will continue to kick ass. I love people watching on the Greenwood Brewery patio facing Roosevelt, which is only going to get better as those new bars open in the Flowers building. Though I’m worried Halfway Crooks may meet the same fate as Chez Gregory. People didn’t know it was open. I don’t recall there being a soft or grand opening announcement and the place looks closed from across the street since the blinds and turned down and they keep the inside lights dim. Walked past it several times and have been genuinely surprised it was open.

And just like that a Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers has announced a new location in Chase Field to be open 7 days a week! Per the discussion on the other thread, I’m convinced y’all manifested this

Is it going in the old TGI's spot? I was just talking to my girlfriend the other day that we need either a Zipps or CB&C in that location after having our discussion on here.

LOL. Nice win but I hate the location. I guess the Guy Fieri planned restaurant must've fallen through because I remember something else being announced to replace Friday's Front Row.

Now we must manifest Zipp's to take over the old The Park space in Collier's

Edit: My mistake, got confused. Guy Fieri restaurant was always going to go in the old Game 7 restaurant...same place as the Caesars Sportsbook.

Just looked it up. According to AZ Central, it is indeed going in the old Friday's location. So we will have both that and the Guy Fieri restaurant. Win-win in my book

The Chase Field FB page posted a rendering of its location on the second deck. Not sure if it’s where TGI used to be. Will be alongside a new concept called Bourbon and Bones.

Edit: You found it

They better find a way to make going there on non-game days more appealing.

I think I only went to TGI Fridays once in the 20 years it was around.

Permitting in the window of the old Even Stevens location for a new place called Plush Bar & Grill. Looks like electrical work is currently being done.

Great to see that prominent corner spot getting filled!

I don't think that being there on non-game days is unappealing, there is something neat about looking out over the empty field and stadium. I think the problem is that people just don't have any reason to walk past 4th street and any restaurant that goes in there has no street presence whatsoever.

Scottsdale-based Fate Brewing Co. plans Phoenix expansion

Kind of a weird location for Fate Brewing's next location. But hey another great brewery coming to midtown-ish.

https://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/...expansion.html

Scottsdale-based Fate Brewing Co. is planning a new location, its first in the city of Phoenix, which will be part of an adaptive reuse project of an existing building.

The move comes several months after the company quietly shuttered its original Valley location in a small strip center on Shea Boulevard just east of North Scottsdale Boulevard.

The new Phoenix location is a former medical office building at 4445 N. 7th St. in central Phoenix.

“We love the area for the traffic, and some new things going on over there,” Steve Ellefson, general manager of Fate Brewing, said. He noted that the area is more competitive with a larger volume of other restaurants nearby than at Fate’s other locations.

I concur that it is an odd location but perhaps they're filling a void. Restaurants on 7th street have struggled at times and forget that the demo is not Biltmore or Scottsdale. At least 8 have closed in that area in the last 5 years. So Denny's and Zipps are packed while more expensive joints at 7th and Missouri have struggled.

Frankly, I think the beer is better at SunUp and they have really struggled in the last few years. They outsourced the restaurant side to Los Sombreros. I think Fate is a decided step down from other brewers like Wren House, Huss, Tombstone, Greenwood, San Tan. I'd put Fate in the class of Hellton & Phx Beer Co (who closed their Uptown restaurant). The best thing about Fate is how nice the Scottsdale restaurant is; they did a terrific job.

Huss seems to be doing well at Uptown market. Fate could be banking on folks who want a brew pup but want to avoid the overparked situation at Central & Camelback, which is a challenge at times.

Been there many times on non-game days. Very relaxing with the open roof and empty stadium.

Downtown Phoenix Urban Wine Walk returns to its original single-day format Saturday, April 23 from 1-5 p.m. I've tried to do this every year since it began, but haven't the past couple years thanks to Covid.

A short blurb of some dining activity downtown:

Write-up on the new restaurant coming to the Hilton Garden Inn:

Huss Brewing at the Convention Center opens next Wednesday

The space formerly occupied by Deli Tavern, previously the Downtown Deli, appears to have some movement. At least the past two times I’ve ridden past, the doors were open and the paper over the windows were gone. I’m cautiously optimistic this space will have new life

Movement continues on the new bar adjacent to the Grand

ATL Wings appears it’ll be opening any day now

Urbo has indicated it’ll be expanding into a retail space at Altura. For anyone who doesn’t know, Urbo is a decent bodega at the Fillmore on 7th Ave.

No information on what concept it will be. But the building next to Matt's Big Breakfast that has been slowly getting a rehab is getting a tenant this summer called, Sin Muerte.

Also, the new Huss Brewing location at the convention center should be opening today:

The old Nook spot in the Hilton Garden Inn is going to be MotoMoto -

https://whatnowphoenix.com/moto-moto...ntown-phoenix/

They still have the nice art deco bar and there isn't much interior work that has been completed. Wonder how they will blend the art deco with Japanese flair?

I really liked the Deli, I guess I was one of the few, good atmosphere, good food. I was disappointed when it closed.
