Good question. Dead projects just fade away; nobody makes extra permit filings to kill off a project. I suspect they are making changes.

The site plan was approved and released along with a tower crane permit:

Most likely making last minute changes. But it's good to see them moving forward.

The approved site plan doesn't have the updated project files attached to it yet. They are sometimes added a day or so later. So we should know soon if there have been any changes.

The building elevations are on there now - files 031, 032 and 033. They don't show any change in height.

The only thing I would note is, the original elevations we saw weren't as detailed. I noticed on one of these new ones, it's labeling a structure above the main roof that I had first assumed was part of the mechanical penthouse. These label that structure as being the HVAC equipment - heating, ventilation, air conditioning - anyway, HVAC equipment isn't architectural and so shouldn't be counted as part of the building's height. Also, HVAC equipment has to be updated/replaced eventually, and those structures vary in size (height). The next highest point on the building is about 229 feet - roughly measured with a sheet of paper against the listed main roof height of 222 feet.

Looks like maybe the parking lot is closed, too. It's not blocked off but I didn't see the money collection thingy when I drove by this afternoon and there were no cars in the lot.

Here is the latest rendering from Rhode Partners website. You can see the tower has changed appearances somewhat, and have to say I like this rendering better than the rest.

I don't know how accurate this website is, but it lists the status as "construction". Has anyone been by the project site in the last month to notice if anything is happening?

^I saw them list The Independent as "construction" also. They even have Northshore listed as "pre-construction" when it is most certainly under construction.

I'll try to get a picture this weekend but I can just barely see from my balcony that there is dirt moving at the site.
