Thanks!! Looking closely south of the tracks, the remnants of a concrete incline that would have been the southern half of the Sangamon viaduct is still visible.

You bring up a very good idea. There is no grade-separated crossing of this big rail artery for over a half-mile. Not only would this be a good place for one, but it must have at least crossed their mind when they rebuilt Kinzie.

IIRC, Viva L Fuego is/was the CDOT guy on these forums. Somebody like that might know what the long term intention here is.

Not big news or anything but positive to see - vacant/parking lot in Buena Park (Uptown) at 931 W Belle Plaine between Sheridan and Broadway got a building permit for a 4 story, 17 unit building. The crappy part is that this is close to the Sheridan Red Line stop, which might have counted for TOD, but it says in the permit there's 20 ground level parking spots for this thing...

Isn't this project something the immediate neighbors had been fighting for years?

Isn't the TOD ordinance more about the ratio of parking to units. If there is a minimum clip for number of units, then I stand corrected. Regardless, my point is that having 20 parking spaces for 17 units a block or two from a station is not good. I would have hoped people on this forum would have gotten the point.

No actually it's on me, I thought you were taking issue with the number of units/height.

No way - putting a 10 story building or something right where that is - I'd never hope for it. I think the density is fine for it. The amount of parking is ridiculous. Seems like a compromise for the neighbors to be quite honest.

I lived right around the corner for 8 years. 20 surface spots is a lot for that lot, is it going to be under the building partially, or all squished in the back of the lot?
