Only a month and a half to go.

August 17, 2008

I took this photo: flickr.com/photos/decojim/ BC
The parking garage is almost done. The pedestrian bridge to the hotel (not visible) is just a framework.

I also looked in some of the ground floor windows on the Michigan Ave. side and I did not see finished rooms. It looks like it will be a very busy 6 weeks.

They started at the top and worked their way down. The ground floors are going to be the last ones to be completed.

Thanks for the info.
I would have thought that the public spaces on the ground floor would take the most time to rebuild but perhaps the rooms I looked into are to be hotel staff offices or such.

For as much as I heard about the restoration of this building, I never actually took the time to look at how it looked before. Maaan...

Anyway, here's some from the hotel's website. (Which I have never actually took the time to check out until now. Maaaaaaaaan....)

I've walked past it at night and there's always tons of people in the bars, and the way it's lit up really makes it a hotel that everyone should stay in if they're visiting Detroit. The RenCen is nice, but I don't think it has as much quality. Hopefully, I'm not overselling it, but it's a nice building me thinks.

More pics here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/snweb/s...th/3060105649/

Couldn't really find a picture that really showed off how it looks at night. You'd have to see it to believe it. (Ok, now I'm overselling it just a bit.)
