There will be a smaller hotel/condo gym in the Trump itself, and the availability to use Equinox at additional cost for condo residents and hotel guests (presumably). This from a friend who will be an owner in the building.

Really great to hear equinox is coming to the area. Was a member when I lived out east and it really puts Steve Nash to shame IMO. Much nicer and better equipped facilities overall!

In another note.

Dizzy Cycles on 4th Ave has closed and filed for bankruptcy as of a week ago, very long term tenant on the 1800 block. Also Sitka has moved to the 2100 block a few doors down from Lululemon. (minor stuff but still retail news)

Equinox will be a welcome addition. The gyms in Vancouver are getting pretty busy. Steve Nash (Granville) for instance is way too busy at peak hours.

I agree it's great to have a new gym opening but I can't see many ppl who go to Nash or 16 or the y leave and go to Equinox so I don't think it will do anything to reduce how busy the current gyms are. For instance if I were to change gyms and go to Equinox I would be paying an extra 155 a month lol. That's nuts

And that is exactly why it "shouldn't" be rammed with people. That said a lot of equinox have things like pools and whatnot. Although I can't see them eclipsing what one would pay to me a member of say The Vancouver Club or Terminal City. Initiation fees at equinox are also pretty high.

Steve Nash on granville really started getting slammed (pre-fitnessworld) when they started offering rock bottom pricing to the restaurant/bar industry and also got very liberal about handing out passes and then when they merged with fitness world that changed a lot as well.

Glad to see Strellson taking one of the 745 Thurlow retail spaces! I buy lots of their shirts, great mid-priced brand and great quality!

I had forgotten that it was supposed to be multi-level retail there (2-3 floors)

Which from a discussion from someone in the know, I was told they were very recently planning to shift that space to office uses.

That would be odd. According to retail insider the retail spaces have all been spoken for. And I believe only half of the office has been leased?

The ground floor is spoken for. I was told they were having zero success with securing above-grade retail, hence the intention to change use.

The office tower is almost all head-leased. 1 or 2 floors to go. However, that doesn't include about 4-5 floors that are going to be put on the sublease market for full term.

Above grade would be popular if it is used as a fancy food court, or restaurant/cafe. Great place to watch people below, and glass tint aside, it would be space that allows plenty of light.

Any escalators going up there?

Nordstrom Vancouver hiring 1000 staff, including 44 managers.

1000 seems like a lot! But if so, that's great!

All of the retail space beneath Red Robin on Robson, other than the former White Spot, now has big red "leased" signs in the windows.

Let's see who was stupid enough to sign a lease with a demolition clause in it.

Experiences at Metrotown today:

What a friggin busy mall. The place is nuts!
However I was in both the bay and Sears. Both places were depressing and dead. First off the bay looks like a dump and hasnt been touched in 25 years. The other thing I noticed was how few employees were around. In Sears aside from the jewelry make up area I saw two employees. but I guess since it's so dead why have more.

The bay needs to shut down and totally redo their store. And Sears needs to just pull the plug already
