Three Plague Days in MONTREAL

No festivals, no live music, lots of stress and anxiety because, you know, there's a deadly virus that just won't go away. This year is the worst. But at least the weather has been nice. I dusted off my camera and set off around town this week. Here are photos from three different days taken with three different lenses.

FRIDAY

SUNDAY

MONDAY

And finally home to the backyard that kept me sane through three months of lockdown...

Seems like I may have screwed up the sharing settings. Can you see them now?

Nice! The tables seem noticeably spaced out.

Fantastic set of beautiful Montreal. Very nice photography. Was heading to the jazz festival this year. Oh well.

Opening a new Kilgore Trout thread in City Photos is like putting on a vinyl record or sprawling over the bench seat of a '63 Riviera. Some things were better in the past.

(That Sherbrooke/Bleury pile is getting ungainly!)

Let's hope the festivals are back next summer... I'm scared to think of what winter will be like when people will inevitably be gathering indoors.

Yes, restaurants and bars have generally been very careful. Lots of well-spaced tables, lots of plexiglass, PPE for all the servers, and of course masks are mandatory in all indoor spaces (which you can't really see in these photos). All these measures seem to be helping because even with bars and restaurants open, case numbers are dropping steadily.

Aww, thanks. And yes, that Sherbrooke/Bleury block is insane. There's even another tower planned for it.

Nice pictures! What areas of Montreal was this in (other than some Sunday pictures in the park at the foot of Mont Royal in Le Plateau, which I recognize from my stay there).

I’ve only been to Montreal twice, once in August and once over the Holidays, but I’m obsessed. It’s a near perfect city.

The photos were posted in chronological order so here's the rough order of things.

Friday: Shaughnessy Village > Lachine Canal > Old Montreal > Chinatown > Latin Quarter > Plateau > Mile End

Sunday: Mile End > Plateau > Quartier des spectacles > Plateau > Mount Royal > Mile End

Monday: Villeray > Jean-Talon Market/Little Italy > Outremont > Mile End

It's really just a small fraction of the city!

What a visual treat. Why can't I be stuck in Montreal (my beloved hometown) instead of London, Ontario (where I have lived for 16 years, on account of my job at UWO)?

^ Masks are very important indoors, but outdoors they are not as mandatory, especially in the heat.

Montreal is one of the most colourful and vibrant cities and not even the coronavirus can take that away. I still enjoyed seeing it here.
