Those are good shots. But this type of thread (unless this in an exception) tends to try to make a place look good. I'd do the same if I ever posted photos. With that in mind, it looks like slim pickings on the people front.

Great shots, Dallas looks much denser in those aerials than I imagined!

Thanks for sharing these great pics, Ebird!

Can I ask, what is this amazing Romanesque brick beauty on the bottom-right?

Very reminiscent of some of Boston's best like Trinity Church and other Richardson masterpieces. I had no idea Dallas had this type of building.

Unfortunately, this district is very familiar to a lot of Americans due to their location on Dealey Plaza, which is right there in the corner of the photo. You can even see a chunk of the Texas School Book Depository, here.

I thought it was just me but I don't get the appeal of Dallas either except for the TV series.

I know I will be hung now!

I think it was either the old court house or city hall. Today it is the Dallas Visitor Center, at least part of it is as I'm not sure what's on the upper floors perhaps a cultural center.

Stunning architectural gem for a city not known to be very historic and urban like it's Northeastern peers. That's always the building that stood out to me the most when I look at pictures of Dallas.

The Old Red Courthouse was very extravagant for it's time. Many considered it to be too expensive and not worth the cost. It is said that this is what started Dallas' over the top development mindset. In today's society, the same conversations are taking place about the Calatrava bridges, etc. I guess some things never change around the Big D.

This first photo is of the new Dallas version of the Hi-Line in NYC. This was a vehicle bridge converted to a pedestian bridge.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you for posting new pics. How has the Continental Avenue Bridge been received by the locals?

The couple of times that I have been, there seen to be quite a few people using it. I expect it will be used even more once the other side sees more development.

It is the Old Red Courthouse. Courthouses are a bid deal in Texas, and many of the towns have one similar to this in the center square. Most are crafted of stone and Richardsonian, Romanesque, or Gothic in nature. There are several very good books that document each courthouse in each town in Texas. The Old Red Courthouse extensively renovated about 5 years ago, with a museum that details the history of Dallas on the upper floors. There is also a large meeting space upstairs as well. The clock tower had been missing for many, many years, and only went as high as the pedestal on the roof. It was historically recreated during the extensive renovation.

Thanks a ton for this! Your reply made me Google "old Texas courthouses" and I found this gem worth sharing with you all:

Every courthouse in the state, meticulously photographed and cataloged. You weren't kidding - Texas has amazing courthouses in practically every town.
