This time, my partner and I realized during all our trips to NYC, we'd never been *in* Central Park - close to, but never actually in, so this time we remedied that.
They're hardly the tallest buildings in the general vicinity but Time Warner Center certainly looks imposing when you exit the subway:
86F and humid... ah well, not going to stop us.
The reclad on One Columbus Circle is atrociously bland - thankfully the Hearst building makes up for it... a little.
Into the park we go!
"Okay kid, swing for that Portzamparc over there..."
"... or the Viñoly will do."
My partner said "where are we going to have lunch?" - next thing you know, we came across the Ballfields Cafe - simple and quick; with good draft beer? Sign us up!
Time to move along.
We ended up in The Ramble, a heavily wooded spot - reminded me of the trails in Cleveland's Metroparks:
And of course, the more popular sites like the sailboat pond:
And the Alice in Wonderland sculpture:
At this point, I was starting to feel the heat and humidity so we left the park in search of a spot to cool off. Of course, I wasn't too tired to take photos along Fifth Avenue:

Who knew - in a few days, they'd be giving Joan Rivers' eulogy here
Then we saw the Plaza Hotel. My partner is the ultimate pug person and by default loves Eloise; I love pugs too and one of my all-time favorite movies is 'Big Business' starring Lily Tomlin and Bette Midler - the Plaza is central to all of that and we figured we'd at least check out the lobby. Who knew there are some cute shops and spots to eat? Guess we know now
Of course, the Sherry-Netherland isn't too shabby:

They had draped canvas since the Palm Court was under restoration - someone *might* have pulled those aside for a quick photo

anything bad ever happening at Tiffany!"
I took a peek out the windows to check out the Crown Building:
One redeeming thing about Trump Tower - in spite of the ridiculously proportioned public spaces, the air conditioning was working.

A brief stop back at our room at Trump Soho - 11th floor views, nothing spectacular but not bad:

Later that night we headed over to the Meatpacking District:
Over to the High Line - as much hype as this place has received, I'd say rightfully so.

Ah well, time to grab a taxi and make our way to LaGuardia (btw, what a dump)
