Having grown up in Central Texas, this qualifies as a "stay indoors and don't go near the windows for fear of freezing to death" kind of situation.... I live in the mountains in China now, so I've adapted some, but I still don't know that I can handle a Rochester winter...

Occasionally you'll see the Windsor bus as there is a route that connects through the Detroit/Windsor Tunnel and circulates in both the cities' respective downtowns.

No way, there's a local bus that crosses the border? How does that even work logistically?

It starts and ends after a Canadian customs checkpoint and operates like an inter-city bus on the Canadian side, and a local bus on the Detroit side. Judging by the website it sounds like everyone has to get off the bus and go through customer once they get to Canada. I'm not sure how many Americans use it to get to Canada but it's first stop before the Customs station is a casino.

I agree, it's absolutely terrible. I still prefer the dashed blue line. It was iconic, they used it in all of their branding and bus stops back in the 1990s. They've changed their corporate design several times and aren't even using that green anymore, everything is dark blue now. It's uncoordinated.

It's like any other route, really. Just gotta make sure you have your papers with you or else you get stuck at customs.

The whole route only has about 5 stops, a couple in Detroit (mainly Cobo Hall, sometimes the stadiums, and the transit Center), a few in Windsor (the casino and the transit center), and one at each of the customs plaza on either side of the border.

Customs usually takes about a half hour to check everyone on each bus. The wait time goes up on event days when a lot of Canadians head over into Detroit.

The tunnel bus is usually very quick at the border because there is a dedicated lane for buses and there are several customs officers in the building to receive bus passengers. It has about 10 stops in Detroit and 5 in Windsor. I've never waited more than 15 minutes at the border on it.

There are special express buses to Tigers and Red Wings games that are packed to the gills and they still process everyone within 15 minutes.
