Garrison is a salary dump. He is 4.6 per year. And Dorset is only 1.9.

And so far as of now we've got the 6th, 24th, thirty somethingth, and 50th overall in a solid draft year.

Kesler was a selfish prick who gave the Canucks 2 choices where to trade him. They got a hell of a lot back considering they had basically no options.

Also, in case it's not obvious - the Canucks are in a full-scale rebuild. You don't tend to improve when your team implodes. Welcome to the basement boys, there's plenty of room although it's getting crowded out here in Western Canada.

Its great that they are rebuilding, but they also need to get rid of the Sedin twins.

We're not getting rid of the Sedins. After reading comments on HF Boards, Bonino sounds like a pretty solid player. Statistically the same as Kesler and 3 years younger. Likely much more durable than Kesler. We've got some cap space now, so there's lots of room to make moves. Canucks will make the play-offs, bank on it.

While I was gone...

-We resigned Markov for 3 years.

-We drafted Nikita Scherbak with the 26th overall pick. I have never seen him play but based on stats (and some scouting reports), it looks like we got a steal.
He had 78 pts on 65 games in the WHL as a rookie. But here is the impressive part... his team was 16-51-5 and the second best scorer on the team had 43 pts. That's 35 more pts than the next guy on the team for Scherbak.
He is a high skilled right winger which we need. We need to give Pacioretty a better support offensively. Who knows maybe Scherbak (RW) could one day play with Pacioretty (LW) with Galchenyuk at center. But that's really in the best case scenario.

Edmonton trades Sam Gagne to Tampa for some guy named Purcell. Is this simply a salary dump??
Edit: no Purcell makes 4.5 million a year!! No comprende.

Too many small players for Edmonton... that's why.

Wow the Canucks must be the busiest team this off season. Ryan Miller is now in town along with existing rumour Dave Bolland and new rumour Jerome Iginla.

And a 5th round pick.

I know he didn't have an impressive season, but I liked Brière. He seems like a really good guy and he's good in the playoffs although he doesn't get much minutes.

How is Parenteau? I don't watch Colorado games.

He's pretty good. Three years ago he managed 67 pts in 80 games with the Isles and two years ago, 43 pts in 48 games.

Last season he recorded 33 pts in 55 games, but he dealt with a knee injury.

I like the Parenteau deal. While I think Briere was not used properly, he was too much of a defensive liability to play more than 10-12 minutes. He's clutch as hell though.

Re-sign Subban (should be a formality) and maybe add another RW via free agency and I would be happy with our off-season.

I really wish they'd re-sign Weaver. Man could he block shots.

Me too. The guy is a human wall! Solid 6th defenseman.
