great shot. Trump is turning out really well, far, far better than Trump Toronto which is a bit of a sh*tshow.

Yeah, but Trump Toronto is taller, so it's a wash.

^A tall, ugly building matches a nice-looking shorter building? Nah.

I'm still confused as to why people insist on comparing Trump Toronto to Trump Vancouver. It would make more sense to compare buildings by the same architect and/or developer (e.g. Shangri-La Toronto and Shangri-La Vancouver). The Trumps share nothing other than a brand.

I'm not impressed at all by Trump Vancouver. The MNP tower is miles ahead architecturally which more than makes up for the height difference.

MNP could be one of the top 10 towers in the country when complete. Trump? meh.

But I agree with people above regarding Trump Toronto which is downright ugly.

I feel, exactly the same way, set backs at the street level rarely make buildings more engaging for pedestrians - rather the reverse.

Imo Trump Toronto's podium and the way it contributes to the street wall is its strongest exterior attribute. I like the granite, mirrored finish on the mullions, and lighting sconces etc. Apart from the onion dome, the glass tower portion is pretty mediocre. Im not a fan of the black/green combination. Black and white or All green with shadow box spandrel like 1 Bloor wouldve looked better.

Trump Toronto uses extreme high quality exterior materials, the granite and glass are unmatched, even if you don't like the colour or design scheme.

What is this "extreme high quality" materials and "street level presence" some of you are talking about? The only entrance to the tower is at the drive-through, which takes up half of both frontages, and the tower is covered with spandrel, and tiny granite tiles that should've been 3 times larger.

But it's tall, yes.

The Trump Toronto is just a dated design, built 20 years after it looks like its from.
Maybe a little busy but not ugly

I don't mind pomo designs that are well done, and I quite liked the renderings of Trump Toronto, but it was executed beyond terribly. Though I do appreciate that it rises straight up out of its footprint rather than having a podium.

Yes, high quality curtain wall glass and granite.

Bingo!

Lot of glass and granite curtain walls in Toronto and the rest of Canada. Their glass choices are particularly basic given the complexities of the uses on the confined site. Back painted glass as spandrel would be off putting even with a better colour choice.

That was the only place to put an entrance on such a tiny location. You've mentioned tiny tiles before but their actually not. As for street presence this tower has a bar that fronts the corner animating it's base for anybody who walks buy.

TT's awful spandrel and mismatched floor heights are what kill it for me. It was a missed opportunity to build something cool downtown, and break up the boxiness of the CBD.

As it stands now, it's easily the ugliest high profile project to go up in Canada in the past few years (in my opinion, of course). It looks like something that could have been built in Shanghai in 1997. A total reclad could make this tower pretty special.

One Bloor, on the other hand, is already looking awesome. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

That's the tricky thing with building tall towers... If they're ugly, they get noticed a lot more.

One tower I was impressed with is Aura. One Bloor seems pretty cool too.

The curtainwalll section of Aura is great, it's too bad it wasn't that for its entire height.
