Aberdeen - Lamma Island Ferry

Lying just a half-hour ferry ride from the main city, Lamma Island is the third largest of Hong Kong's islands. There are no cars here and few buildings are over three storeys high. Trails meander along hills and coastline.

Here is a new residential on the Aberdeen side :

The fast ferry picks up speed as we depart Aberdeen. The ride is exceptionally smooth.

Aberdeen is located on the south side of Hong Kong Island, while Lamma Island lies directly west, so the ferry route doesn't traverse Victoria Harbour. Rather, we go through the open ocean, yet it wasn't wavy at all.

The neighboring waters are busy with lots of container ships and fishing vessels.

There is a windmill on Lamma Island, and also a few ugly smokestacks from a power station.

Next to Wah Fu are super-expensive new residential skyscrapers that are part of the Cyberport development.

Lamma Island is quite popular with Westerners. Many actually reside on the island and commute to the city by ferry daily. Many tourists also visit the island to walk the trails which traverse the hillsides and connect the two main villages on either end.
