In a new obj edition it states they will be breaking ground in spring 2019 due to the tightening condo market

Mastercraft Starwood, for example, says it will put shovels in the ground later this spring on its long-awaited Soho Italia building. The 30-storey, 250-unit project at 500 Preston St., just steps from the Carling LRT station, has been in the planning stages for more than half a dozen years and now appears to finally be a go.
Site still being ignored. Was in the area this week and the parking lot was not plowed, no signage about opening the sales center, and a big portion of their advertising signage had blown down and is buried in the snow along the sidewalk. No sign of life at this site yet. Wondering if it has to do with inventory at Champagne? Anyone know the current sales figures for the Champagne building?
I wasn't familiar with The Hazelton, 'til I clicked that link. What a dreamy piece of real estate. ...Orders of magnitude cooler than what is viable in our market here.
I'm happy with the current height and architecture. It dosen't compete with the flashier Carling proposals. As always, I like to see heights stepping down towards main streets and away from transit stations.
It's getting a little frustrating to see this one come and go. If there trying to garner some interests, this is not the way to do it.
These guys were doing great a few years ago, launching and building new projects on a steady basis.
Dufresne Piling is on the SOHO Italia site this morning. Looks like the start of something big? Anyone have any news?
Let's get the party started.
Yes I saw this today as well. Looks like it will move forward as a rental since no sales office ever opened or units sold. The mobile trailer fronting Preston needs to be removed and one house still needs to be demolished. I could not find any demolition control application.

With the hospital due to start construction soon (expected completion 2027) this is going to be a prime piece of real estate. Looking forward to Icon not looking so lonely on that corner.
Great news. Can't wait to see this one completed. I hope they maintain the current design.
Same. I get a pinch of Mies Van Der Rohe/Bauhaus vibe from it. It is certainly a better looking proposal than the other 1500 buildings Roderick Lahey has on the go in Ottawa. At least it's something different than his usual style.
Maybe a few more stories? Thinking 36 would be perfect at this site
I have been wondering if they might go for more. Wasn't it originally planned to be 35 stories? With Icon built I don't see why they couldn't go 40 plus without too much of a headache...

I would think a few more stories would be appropriate for this area. Given the Icon is right there and so many projects in the planning stage with decent height to them, a bit more height will help stand out in the long term.
