hopefully you are just waiting for a bricklink order to arrive.

Jibba: thanks for the comment.

Ford Building: Day 37

I took this photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/decojim/3267969735

The only thing between this and completion is the fire escape, some interior work on the ground floor, and a few missing window sills in the back.

Here's me and my unfinished Lego City exhibit last year at the National Building Museum in Washington DC. It includes a port and an airport. Note also the mountain and the freeways. Hope you like it.

That would be cool. I would pay to see that!

(I wouldn't.)

Maybe Aj will let you borrow one of his 10,000 red Legos for it?

Philbern:
That city looks good.

I do have a few questions:
1. What scale is it?
2. Are any of the skyscrapers based on actual buildings?
3. Do you have any close-up shots of the buildings or other areas?

At least I do not have to ask how large the display is. I can just see the 10" baseplates. So far it looks like a little larger than 70"x70" with the airport's 15" baseplates extending a bit to the left.

1ajs:
Oh no - the giant wooden Mammoth!
I will have to see your mammoth and raise you a Godzilla!

Now that my Ford Building is essentially complete, here is a view to show it in relation to the rest of the Penobscot block in downtown Detroit.

I took this photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/decojim/3279146690/

It is interesting to note that Philbern's city looks much larger than it is (that is a good thing - a compliment to the amount of detail he packed into it). The city portion of his display is 40"x70" or 2,800 sq.in. (not counting the airport or the are between the downtown) while my Penobscot block shown above covers an area of 50"x60" or 3,000 sq.in.

You got that right, the scale is 40" X 70" in the 6 'districts' surrounding the mountain, not counting the burb extending to the airport and the airport itself. My goal is to eventually complete the bay on the left and add satellite towns to the right and back. Lego enthusiasts called it a nanoscale- the metro/subway trains are the smallest lego pieces found here in this model (it can be seen crisscrossing on elevated tracks, into mountain tunnels and towards rectangular metro stations- see closely). Buildings are not patterned after any present day edifices although I confess some may have semblance to existing ones. I will post the close up of some of the buildings and details at street level including unfinished buildings with cranes......and I should add that this city is constantly evolving and it does not look the same today as it was displayed in the museum last year..............thanks for all the compliment guys!

Good news. The model is essentially finished. It only took six months

It may take a week or so before I get it photographed and posted here... care to reveal your guesses before then?
