Hate to rain on your happy parade, but this one is on hold, not canceled.

It's up to $177 right now. It looks pretty sweet.
I wonder who's bidding on this thing. I didn't think the building was popular enough, not many people know about it other than skyscraper enthusiasts.

Currently at $805. It would be interesting to hear the story of the buyer, what the interest is in the model. Skyscraper enthusiast or shiny history buff?

According to curbed.com, it went for over $1,000.....

Quote:
All bids are in, and the 56 Leonard model put up for sale on eBay last week has gone for $1,136.11. That's still less than half of what the building was originally hoping to get per square foot, which might explain why it only exists in the 20-inch lucite version.

When will this when ever come back to life! The high-end Tribeca market has long been back.

Quote:

The recession robbed us of hope for a number of new development projects, but as the economy's slowly come back, so have those new condos. Today, the Journal files an update on three once-stalled Tribeca projects. Diagnosis: definitely breathing. The updates:

1) V33: The Winka Dubbeldam-designed building at 33 Vestry Street took freaking forever to show itself after hitting the market in 2007. Then it picked up some major speed, because now every unit, including the $14.95 million 4BR penthouse, is in contract.

2) 471 Washington Street: The delays at this zombie building happened during the construction phase, and all's been fairly smooth sailing since it hit the market in March. Now, 11 of the 12 apartments are in contract. The obligatory blockbuster deal is a finance honcho's planned combo of a penthouse and another apartment "to create a 7,000-square-foot space with multiple terraces and a pool."

3) 1 North Moore: 471 Washington's sibling (the two buildings share developer the Vella Group) was only just teasing us last month, but now, all but one unit is in contract. Obligatory blockbuster deal: one of the developers will be picking up a triplex penthouse.

None of these buildings are even completed!

Come on 56 Leonard!!

One of my favorite proposals of the last 10 years, and probably my ABSOLUTE favorite that's still on ice. PLEASE they need to build this eventually. I'll die if they don't

Good news!!!!!!

Quote:
For 2011, “I think the biggest thing to watch is Extell’s One57,” Mack says. “In 2012, it’s going to be the launch of 56 Leonard.”

Yes, 56 Leonard is that planned 60-story glass tower in TriBeCa designed by Herzog & de Meuron, which was to feature a $5,300-per-square foot penthouse. The building was frozen after the credit crunch, but Mack is expecting the 145 units to come back next year.
Changes are going to be “pretty minor from what I know,” says Mack. “There’ll be some minor design alterations, but we’re very much committed to building what the original vision was. People call us regularly to ask us when they can buy something in the project.”

Glad to hear it. Let's dust everything off. Next year will be pretty intersting with the number of developments that could be coming back to life, in addition to the developments just beginning.

After recession lull, new condos are back
July 28, 2011 11:00AM

From left: 57 Reade, One57, 56 Leonard Street and 1212 Fifth AvenueSince 2005 an average of 3,800 new condominium units have hit the New York City market each year, but in the first half of 2011 just 278 units hit the market. The New York Post reported that that's about to change.

According to figures from Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group, 833 new condo units will hit the market in the second half of 2011, and over the next three-and-a-half years some 5,250 units will hit the market.

"People are sort of coming out of hibernation," Town Residential's Reid Price, a broker who specializes in new developments, told the Post. Buildings and plans are "there that weren't there a year ago -- or even six months ago." He said that Town is looking at marketing more than 15 projects across Manhattan, most on the Upper East Side.

Some of the largest developments coming to the market include 57 Reade Street, a 20-story, 84-unit building marketed by Brown Harris Stevens, and Extell Development's One57, which has 135 units above a 210-room hotel on West 57th Street, set to hit the market in the fall. The 55-units in the Durst Fetner-developed 1212 Fifth Avenue came to market in June and are priced between $735,000 and $7.99 million, and 56 Leonard, the 60-story, 145-unit Tribeca tower, may also reemerge next year.
