The visibility in that first picture is amazing. Also, on a side note, we can see LIC pretty clearly, and this view will give us a good idea of the potential for the area. With all of the towers going up and planned within the area, that area will look dramatically different. Almost like DoBro, only denser assuming most of the developments get built. Its like an extension of Midtown East in a way. From the observation deck, once it opens, it will be a treat to see all of these skyline clusters/downtowns. 99 Church street is also rising gracefully. Thinner than I thought from this view or maybe its just overpowered by all of the bulky towers in its proximity.

I wish they'd do something about that dark stretch in the spire at night.

^ Maybe they'll do something with the official lighting.

I just want to point out that at 1,368 ft and currently tallest to roof height in the city, the Freedom tower is on pace to drop to 4th or 5th. With 432 Park at 1396 ft, Nordstrom at (minimum) 1,490 ft, 111 W. 57th at possibly 1397-1,400 ft, and now 1 Vanderbilt with top off (minus spire) at 1,396 ft. It dodged a bullet with the planned 125 Greenwich at 1,356 ft. It's getting very crowded at the top. But that tacky looking spire is the one thing keeping it at the top of the rankings.

yeah i feel like extell is going to build nordstrom with that spire and do what trump did in chicago and re-measure the total height of the building and end up putting it ahead of 1 wtc.or maybe just file for two feet taller xD

16. A look at the difference in elevation between the north and west entrances...

17.

18. Clearly, this is an entrance. Yet the CTBUH and SOM were up to shenanigans to certify this building at 1,776 ft, and so it is. (Until you take a photo from the northern side...

Thanks for the pics and captions, especially the ones describing the height difference between the north and west entrances at WTC1. Also I like the signage, is it similar to the old WTC?

Great pics NYguy

No, it didn't look very similar really.

I don't recall signage from the old WTC, there were markers. But I didn't really look for any, it was just the World Trade Center.

This new signage reminds me more of the BofA tower...

I took this just now as the low clouds roll over lower manhattan. I wish I had this view before they turned the spire off at midnight but the cloud deck was completely opaque until recently.
