I thought Mississippi had the highest rate of morbid obesity.

According to this site (CDC) it is Mississippi at 40.1%, highest in the land

Thanks for the info, Badrunner.

I was just in Redondo for 4 days. It feels like the entire place is biking, jogging, water sports, anything. Even in the covid area.
I totally believe it.

Badrunners map pits wealth(ier) cities in CO and the west coast up against poorer cities in the RGV, the Mississippi Delta and Deep South.

Yeah the state level data is probably more "fair" than the city level data.

I can tell you there are some manatees walking around Venice beach.

you have geographic determinants and then there are racial/ethnic disparities of obesity rates that is weighed in as well

Sure. They're in places like South Beach too. But in general, it's pretty fit. Abbot Kinney alone .

But the chart is more of a economic thing. But if you have access to the outdoor, trails, bike paths etc you're likely going to get into shape.

Calculate your bmi, input your height and weight, anything over 30 is obese. you can refine it by measuring your waist. maybe you hit the obese tier, but you squat 300 lbs and have a 28 inch waist

I don’t know what Boulder is like but a lot of these lowest obesity cities are highly populated by Asians, specifically East Asians. So that might have something to do with it too.

boulder is very white, affluent, clean, safe, outdoor culture, next to the flatirons and the rest of the rockies to exercise in.
88.0% white,
0.9% black
0.4% native american,
4.7% asian
0.1% pacific islander
3.2% some other race
2.6% from two or more races.
8.7% hispanic or latino of any race.

Yea, its kinda weird. 30 bmi would likely just look overweight but nothing crazy.
It's that class 2 thing that is more dangerous and unhealthy. Then morbid obese etc..

Maybe OKC will attract enough of these morbidly obese citizens to reach the top ten in population. Or maybe just the top ten cities with the most fatty boombalatties.

lol for real, you'll find gym rats anywhere. Not exactly hard.

I don't get why an individual who doesn't work in healthcare would give a damn. It's not like you're going to get fat (or fit) by osmosis.

Just more typical boosterism dick measuring insufferable pompous shit.

but oh oh oh record forest fires and lung damaging smoke remain no big deal and impacts NOBODY!

Oh God. What you do is the reverse. Youre own booterism. Or try to make the coasts look worse than what they are .you don't get a pass.

And there was maybe 7 days all year la people had to worry About smoke. Maybe 10 total in the last few years.

Also can be seen in places like Greece.

You've done the same thing and you know it. it's just a reverse thing, and people from the south and midwest do it all the time.
They make fun of the coasts/Calfiornia for affordability, and homeless issues or fires. It goes both ways, wether you want to admit or not.
But I guess it's acceptable because it's from your region. Whatever.

I actually visited Oklahoma last year, for the first time, for the big Houston Cougars vs Oklahoma Sooners football game.

We stayed in downtown Oklahoma City. It was nice but nothing reminded me of Texas. Well except maybe for a miniature version of the Paseo del Rio (Riverwalk).

Now, it was a nice small charming downtown with a minor league ball park but the people were very different (how they dressed, how they talked, etc.).

I will agree it did feel like Texas...but a Texas stuck in the 1950s...Texas evolved into with 2 major cosmopolitan world class cities (Houston, Dallas) and 3 up and coming cities (Austin, San Antonio, Ft. Worth) and Oklahoma held strong on their 1950s Midwest ways.

I just didn't get a "World Class" Top Ten city vibe from OKC.

These things tend to develop with size. Oklahoma City is still quite small but would almost certainly become more cosmopolitan the larger it got. I'd take the chart below with a grain of salt but this UK study has Oklahoma City in the 'Sufficiency' category. It's the grouping with the lowest global city rating but at least it made the cut.

Colorado is looking pretty slim there.
