Springbank Dam

More evidence of the improved health of the Thames River with the Springbank Dam not being used.

The debate on whether to rebuild it should be rather short.

I would disagree. I would much rather have a river that the population can use for canoeing and other water sports. This would add a life to the river we haven't seen in years.

I agree with you I would like the river used for different water sports. I don't fully support the idea that this fish was that big either just because the dam was broken. The river in general is getting healthier from all sorts of reasons.

There is little doubt that the primary reason for the improved health of the river is the shutdown of the dam.

This has been seen in other river systems when old dams were removed.

There is still plenty of opportunities to Kayak and Canoe on the river today.

Today watched a beaver feeding on branches just south of the pedestrian foot bridge at the forks of the Thames. Early this summer a fisherman caught a large muskie upstream of the springbank dam. There is zero doubt that the dam must never be repaired and has to go and never be replaced. The natural state of the river supports these iconic Canadian species.

Seems that Springbank Dam is done like dinner. Other than the uppity canoe club that don't want to move to Lake Fanshawe, everyone else seems to be happy with a free flowing river. Even Mattress Brown has backed off his election plebe to restore the dam.

Doing site prep to allow heavy equipment to access the dam site for its decommissioning.
