I've heard a story of a construction accident where one of the wall broke loose from the crane and fell on a worker. When they removed the wall he was literally flatten like in Bugs Bunny cartoon.
Thats a lovely story...

Just drove down the 110s from Pasadena past Downtown, and boy does this tower have a presence. Once you pass through those dodger stadium hills, this thing dominates. The spire really does draw your eye to the very top in a way that most pictures just don't capture.

It seems like they are taking forever to get the sail covered with glass.

Tower_guy on Instagram says the crane will start coming down next Monday, taking two weeks; then the east and west ends of the tower will be finished before glass is installed on the sail.

Wait, so then how are they going to get the glass and other supplies up there if no crane?

When it comes to glazing it is considered a light lift. A tower crane is not needed for placing the glazing. Usually a spider leg style outrigger is used in in such applications. This saves money since tower cranes are very expensive to rent and maintain, so they want to keep the tower crane up for a minimal amount of time.

Here is an example of what they look like.

Underwhelming Building!

Sorry to say this but the Wishire Grand is a pretty underwhelming building. The building is not really a supertall, and the spire tacked on is a joke. The Aon building appears taller than it and the Bank One building dominates it. That being said it is a nice addition to the skyline but it shouldn't advertise itself as a supertall.

Actually the WG looks really nice. I am glad it compliments the skyline rather than making too much a spectacle on its own. I do not care whether or not it is a "supertall. and I think for most all Angeleno's the Library Tower is still our crown jewel. The WG though is a real handsome addition to Downtown. If I were to be critical of anything it would be the way the spire is illuminated at night... a bit weak.

A look at the quickly changing skyline from Westlake. And no, the WG does not look "underwhelming" from here.

Bank One building? Did you mean the U.S. Bank Tower or are you from an alternate timeline where Bank One wasn't gobbled up by Chase in 2004?

Amazing.

Also, that photo goes to show you how much potential Westlake has to become one of the most desirable urban neighborhoods in LA, if not the entire west coast, or dare I say it, the country.

^That's a great picture. Definitely adds some bulk to the skyline!

Just saying if the park was cleaned up and there wasn't so much trash covering the city streets it would be much more aesthetically pleasing. Wouldn't you agree?

So are you suggesting that once all the current residents are removed through gentrification then it will reach its full potential? Whats wrong with it now?

Or maybe he means literally.

The area is actually full of litter. There's a lot of churches and small companies which come to this area to give flyers which are then usually tossed throughout the park.
