It looks like the crane is coming down

The view last night, with the crane no longer full height:

The skin on this tower is brilliant. They did a great job following through on the design.

Yes, this is one great looking building. Right across the street from another favorite of mine, Millennium.

A Salesforce sign has gone up on the west facade, about eight stories up:

Corporate logos almost always look bad on buildings, especially on one with such an elegant skin like 350 Mission.

I agree--and we're getting many more of them on a variety of buildings now.

This is basically completed, from the outside at least. But there is one bit of news. We know that the restaurant will be a Michael Mina property:

Quote:
The Mina Group, the umbrella company for chef Michael Mina's coast-to-coast restaurant empire, has filed for a liquor license at 350 Mission St., the future home of a building of the same name (scheduled for completion later this year) that will be fully occupied by Salesforce. The building is adjacent to the forthcoming Salesforce Tower, set to debut in 2018.

According to the liquor license, the restaurant will be named Middle'terranea, a moniker that is familiar to Mina fans: it was the name of the company's first pop-up at the Marina's Mina Test Kitchen, which debuted this summer.

While a PR rep for Mina Group confirmed via email that "we are working on a project of a yet-to-be-determined nature in the 350 Mission building," she said "it will not be Middle’terranea ... We were thrilled it was such a success at the Mina Test Kitchen and are excited to see what the future holds, but we currently do not have plans to open Middle’terranea." So Mina will indeed open something there, but we'll have to wait and see what the concept will be.

Testing the two-story wraparound display panel. It's amazing.

Walked by the lobby at night while going home from work today. One of the most stunning lobbies in the city right now.

more on the new screen, as seen from the street...

this is going to be a great counterpoint to the plaza entrance to the TransBay Transit Center kitty corner across the street.

If I was rich enough and had the room, I'd want one of those screens for myself, but I know it will be obsolete if 5 years or less. It's a classy looking building, though - from top to bottom.

Indeed. Too bad they built it a few stories shorter than what was approved, and too bad the tower was designed to be 300' shorter than what the height limit allows.

I thought they built it up to the approved limit (which was still below the zoning)

Too bad for that pesky elevator/floor space dilemma.
