It looks like we got a big rain storm about to hit Manhattan.. Does anyone know if that affects the construction workers working on the building? Do they stop when it rains?

Nope the tarps protect them. They will keep working although maybe on a slower pace then they would normally be at.

You can't erect steel in the rain and deck pouring is pretty limited, so there's not much for them to do when it's coming down. I'm not sure if it shuts the cladding crew down, but I imagine you wouldn't want water in the joints.

A little rain I could handle if I were a steelworker... It's the lightning that would freak me out!

Do they have to clear the upper floors of workers in a lightning storm?

Ya Traynor is right. Lightning is a big concern especially when youre working with steel way up there. And given how much steel is used on this tower, yea it gets pretty dangerous. Im sure the storm and lightning is what caused progress to slow down recently.

You guys in New York are getting the storms that passed through my area in Chicago a couple days ago. It was a mess.

Tell me about it. It's probably about to hit us in 5-10 minutes. I love when it rains personally.. But I hope the steelworkers can still work.

Steel, and cladding just won't go up in the rain, but inside the tarp, and the cladding they could be doing floor work in there, and it doesn't even stop in the rain.

Nope. But I'm sure they're working around the clock trying to reach an alternative.
