Any thought of that was lost when Stelmach was done being Premier.

The P3 announcement had these:

^ It's not even terribly visible from the north currently as there's a bit of a hill where the tracks used to run.

The part that bothers me is the loading dock on 97 St., as it feels like a big hole where something better connecting the two sides of the underpass would have been good. But given the constraints of the site, I don't think they had any other options, and at least it's no worse than when the Post Office was there.

Yup, pretty cool. The neat part is that you can see that all of the way down 99st.

Royal Alberta Museum's video wall a 'taste of what's to come'

BILL MAH

When you’re building the glitzy $340-million Royal Alberta Museum in downtown Edmonton, sticking up a roadside billboard like its predecessor used to advertise the exhibitions inside wouldn’t cut it, the developers of the new facility decided.

The museum is instead getting a second-storey video screen 20 metres wide by nearly six metres high, wrapped around its southwest corner.

Technicians began testing the screen last week so passersby on 103 A Avenue can get a preview of the eye-catching outdoor screen as it cycles through screensaver-style, high-resolution video clips of fireworks, the planet Earth, a cloudy-sky scene, stars and waves.

When the museum opens in late 2017, the screen will showcase the newest exhibits and share information about happenings inside along with interesting facts about Alberta.

It’s also designed to be a high-tech come-hither pulling people across busy 103A Avenue, the traditional north edge of downtown.

I like the video screen.. it gives the feeling Edmonton has becoming more sophisticated and more modern.

I don't get the logic of the screen being recessed.

I've been saying this also. Not many people think it's a big deal. I think it looks like it was a last minute add on! Having it envelope the corner of the building would have been pretty much perfect.

I rather like it versus just a fascia, adds a neat design element if you ask me.
