Arrow Austin | 7th & Trinity Hotel | Feet? | Floors? | Proposed

License Agreement filed for a project called "7th and Trinity" described as a "high rise hotel". Does anyone have more information about this? Could this be the Block 87 site?

Well, people DO regularly stay at the Indigo/Holiday Inn Express, which is a block north of ARCH. But point taken. Takes stones to propose a high rise hotel that will overlook our most active homeless shelter.

A long while ago, there was a hint of a possible office tower at the southwest corner of this intersection. Nothing ever came of it though. That could be where this is?

IMO it'll be more in the mold of the Aloft/Element, or the Westin Downtown. I'll be interested to see what "highrise" actually means.

Maybe unfortunately, "High-rise" is defined as a building between 13 and 39 stories tall.

I guess it depends on how many rooms this project is going to have. Hopefully it will be 30+ stories.

While the Proper Hotel in Austin was built in the "nice" part of downtown, the one in SF was built knowing full well that it would be in the heart of the Tenderloin district and surrounded by homeless.

As Austin's downtown matures and available spaces become limited, the prices of the more desirable locations (post office block for instance) are probably driving developers to look elsewhere for more speculative opportunities.

Yah for sure, though in hotel marketing language "high rise" can mean . . . anything higher than a couple of floors.

I'm interested to see if this one is YET ANOTHER White Lodging project, as Towers suggests. They've got so much freakin' product in this town, I'm really at a loss as to what else they can do here. Though, they have been building a spate of Kimpton hotels in other cities, so maybe that's what they're considering. Our one Kimpton property, the Hotel Van Zandt, just recently went full independent, so there's definitely a brand opening for another entrant.

Really glad that parking lot is being redeveloped, it's been a blight for years. It is a HORRIBLE pedestrian experience, with a busted sidewalk, retaining wall and staircase. After the bars on 6th close, it often fills up with people waiting on ride shares, and I've seen some sketchy stuff go down while people were congregated there.

No CVC, so it can go tall. But since it's hotel only, I think we're looking at 20 floors max. But it's great to see something like this in the least desirable part of downtown.

If it’s White Lodging, they loooove Marriott products. They’ve also just opened their first Kimpton in San Antonio. I’m leaning towards Kimpton, TBH.

If it’s not White Lodging all bets are off. Could be anything!

The Travis County property search shows the owner as XWALK MGT, LLC. which is also tied to the JW Marriott, Courtyard Marriott, Aloft/Element, Otis and Moxy (all White Lodging Marriott Hotels)
