I visited my old hometown for the recent eclipse. The weather wasn't cutting me or my family any breaks as there was a pretty thick layer of cloud cover the morning of the big event. In the minutes leading up to totality, things started to look a little better. We had a few minutes of very clear skies in the last few moments before occlusion and it looked like we might get a good view. Unfortunately, the clouds rolled in and we saw less and less of the cresent sun as the moon moved across its face. Then, just before totality, we lost site of everything. Right when it looked like we might not see any of the "ring of fire," the clouds grew thin enough for us to look directly at the sun without our eclipse glasses (as dangerous/stupid as that might have been). It was an amazing sight. I managed to take a few pictures before the clouds became too thick to see anything - we got, maybe, 30 seconds before we lost sight of it.
I took a look at my pictures yesterday and decided to make an animated GIF - and it actually turned out pretty well.
Did any of the rest of you forum members get any good pictures or videos?
