So, weren't the development proposals supposed to be made public on August 25? What happened? This project seems to have gone quiet. I was wondering if the Amazon thing had anything to do with that since it was announced around the time the proposals were supposed to come out.

With all of the rumors about Amazon wanting to get into the health care industry, it would seem that there could be some synergy to being in the medical innovation zone...or whatever they're calling it. That would be pure speculation though.

When this project was being planned I thought I read that August 25th was the date the proposals were to be made public. But that seemed to change to the date that the proposals just needed to be made to Central Health. Central Health got the proposals on that date but of course never made them public. Now they are being vague about the project and giving it a 15 year time line. So I don't think there really is a plan other than to build something there at some point in the future.

Hoping this is Wexford's winning proposal. PageThink is the architect.

Wow, that's great stuff.

Don't forget to add Hotel Mirabeau just directly south there on Red River where the pizza joint is.

It would be nice if the conceptual designs included something round like the majestic Holiday Inn tower at Riverside and I35.

How many square feet is this? And what are the chances we see an Amazon logo on one of these buildings?

I sincerely hope this isn't just a vision. These aren't boilerplate buildings. That cylinder one in the center is unlike anything currently in Austin. The massive tower looks to be office (~58 floors, ~800 ft). Merck's new headquarters?

We can assume this was one of the sites offered up to Amazon as well.

That's a great point - we should protect it and the land that it sits on.

That's much better than the original vision, and it does look like it could be an HQ2 proposal. But do we have any info tying Page to the Wexford bid? This could be like the 308 Guadalupe vision from STG that we can't connect to the winning Lincoln and Phoenix bid.

I don't think this will be an option for HQ2...unless Amazon jumps into the medical field. In all realization...I think HQ2 will be located further east than the Great State of Texas.

However...who the hell really knows???

I sit firmly in this camp on the subject of Amazon HQ2. We'll see.

There seem to be 9 highrises in total in these two renderings:

4 on the northern half (from west to east: 60, ~54, ~21, & ~30 floors), 4 on the southern (from west to east: 30, 49, 40, and 46 floors), and the round one in the middle closest to I-35 (~34 floors). If built as such, this will be the most prominent node in our skyline, even without considering multiple neighboring highrise proposals in the development pipeline.

Another thing to note about the renderings is that they seem to ditch the east-west couplet around the market and dedicate the entire space to pedestrians.
