Thanks for pointing to a construction cam.

The shoring, digging and building out of the hole tries my patience. Cities that allow above ground and building height- increasing parking garages are lucky in that regards.

They're still digging. They're using that conveyor machine to carry the dirt/rocks up to the street level to dump into trucks to be hauled away.

Yeah caisson work and all that good stuff should happen by Q2 if all goes to schedule. They have done some pretty good work so far given all that digging.

Compare post #101 to post #124. Good speed for such work in 4 months.

Maybe it's deceptive but it looks like the deepest hole I've ever seen for a ~200 meter tower.

Same here. Kinda surprised when I looked at it compared to the last update. So much for the old constriction schedule of opening by 2016.

Impressive to have a conveyor belt installed. Have they reached bottom?

"Hey Billy, so I go to 5th & Columbia and say, 'Man, you've got a deep hole; man, you've got a deep hole.' 5th & Columbia says, 'Why'd you say it twice?' I go, 'I didn't.'"

So what does everyone think of this tower, do ya'll like it. To me its not that bad. Its just that there's nothing to like and nothing to hate about it. I red somewhere else that this is going to be the last taller one built in Seattle for a while, is this true?

Nope. The Rainier Square redevelopment will have a tower of about 850'. New 2nd tallest in Seattle. Link to thread below:

Slightly off topic, but I found in interesting. The foundation hole for the Kingdom Tower, is.... 30 floors deep.

I think thats probably the deepest that I've ever heard of. Explains why its taking a while to rise, because they have to essentially dig a skyscraper below.

This is for a garage and foundation, not just a foundation.

It's deep, but the amount of parking isn't that high. If I recall it's about 500 spaces. That would be maybe 1 for every 5-6 workers assuming zero for the hotel, and I don't know how the small auxillary space for the Rainier Club (old building) is involved.

Edit: They advertise a parking ratio of 0.69 per 1000 sf. If that's just for the offices, it might be 1 per 7 workers or so. The numbers wouldn't change much if it also includes the hotel.

Have they reached China yet?

No but really that hole is huge and this thing is taking forever. Seems to be a trend among West Coast skyscrapers (minus Wilshire Grand). Must be the laid back lifestyle
