Sounds like quite the adventure. I lived along the Assiniboine River in WInnipeg's dowtown core. Very similiar experiences although minus the varieties of snake, turkey, moles and opposum to name a few.

There was a grizzly sighting in Cochrane last week. Apparently this little guy is still wandering around there somewhere.

There was a bear about the same age (three to four years old) that wandered into Okotoks last August.

My neighborhood is being overrun by squirrels. Saw a few flattened ones on the street today. You'd think that would put a dent in their population but NO.

Ottawa neighbourhood deporting squirrels across border into Quebec

It’s a secret and illegal deportation that’s apparently been going on for years. To outside observers, it appear a little, well, nuts.

Some Ottawa residents are apparently spiriting their unwanted squirrels across the bridge and dumping them in neighbouring Quebec.

Daniel Sylvester of Ottawa’s posh Westboro neighbourhood said he recently noticed a squirrel in his neighbour’s humane trap and offered to let the critter go. He assumed the neighbour was trying to trap raccoons.

“He said, ‘No, I’m trying to catch them all and bring them to Quebec because they can’t cross the bridge.’”

“The bridge” is the kilometre-long span that connects the community to Gatineau, Que., across the Ottawa River.

Squirrels have a reputation in folklore of returning when removed, unless they are taken across a body of water.

Aren't Bobcats supposed to be fairly rare? That's pretty cool.

Much like bear activity in the mountain valleys is at a near-record peak, I'm seeing pretty much non-stop coyotes in Calgary this summer. Almost every day at this point, if I'm out and about. Last night one was just casually hanging in the grass median of an off-ramp. Woulda sworn it was a dog from how relaxed it looked.

Have to find the photo I have of a Coyote here. waited at a crosswalk and looked both ways before crossing. I thought it was a dog as well but then I saw the tail. Haven't seen many around this year, but the fox has been in the yard every couple of days.

Only one moose in town so far this year but it is about that time to have the yearlings on the move.

The bear issue is noticeable this year. I have seen many more on my rides in the mountains. I now carry bear spray for road rides. Also anyone racing at the Nordic Centre are required to have Bear spray on them or they do not get to race. ABA rules have that as well now.

24 hours later, there was a coyote hanging out in the very same spot. I've never seen one be so... resident in a well-trafficked area. He sure did seem to be camped out!

I don't know what they are, but I have little buggers digging fist-sized holes and tunnels in my backyard. Generally this happens over the winter and I discover them in the spring when the snow melts, but mowing my lawn over the weekend and found a few freshly-bored holes! First time I have seen this in the summer!

In the Sault we have smaller animals such as squirrels and chipmunks, some mid-sized animals such as foxes, skunks, raccoon's, and bobcats, and larger animals such as deer, moose, and black bears.

Here is one of the Sault's wildlife on the South St. Mary's Island.
