Thanks Hill Country. This is one thing that makes me a proud Austinite, is giving recognition to local and state Artists. Even though Townes suffered from drug and alcohol addictions. I still like some of his songs.

Does anybody know what kind of view Shore condo dwellers with those big north facing balconies are going to have once the hotel is finished? Are there hotel rooms facing south towards The Shore at the point where the hotel is closest to the condo tower? Maybe somebody could grab a picture of that area between the two buildings. I know those units with then large balconies are among the largest in The Shore building. They must have taken a real hit in terms of value due to the loss of views.

I think this shot was taken from one of the Shore's North balconies.

Ouch! That must really suck unless one enjoys staring into strange hotel rooms on a frequent basis. I guess that could prove interesting to those with more perverse interests.

Yeah, Townes Van Zandt. He was born in Fort Worth. His third great grandfather, Isaac Van Zandt, was a politician of the Republic of Texas. His second great grandfather was a confederate major who was also one of the founders of Fort Worth. He has a really interesting family history.

Van Zandt County (in between Dallas and Tyler) is named after Isaac Van Zandt.

Lol you know I was thinking Beirut in the 80s but we were on the same wavelength. It does have that war ravaged look about it.

You're absolutely right! I kind of like it. At the very least, couldn't they delay construction while a couple zombie apocalypse flicks are filmed there?

Looks like they're doing the same kind of exterior application that Westin on 5th is doing, which is taking several months to finish, and looks like crap while they're doing it.

Sucks that they won't be finished in time for SXSW.

Here are some new renderings and info from ABJ.

I'll have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised at how this hotel is coming along, it's looking much better than I imagined it would.

On a slightly different topic the above article had a link to this story about the sale of the Four Seasons to new owners. http://www.bizjournals.com/austin/bl...o-be-sold.html
