Photos from my place - what a view!

Here's the first set of photos from my new apartment in the city, Victoria Canada. Jan 1st 2007
wasn't the best day for photos, but I have them nonetheless.

Here's a nice Google map to see where the city is. http://www.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&...08301&t=k&om=1
It's the capital of British Columbia, situated at the southern tip of Vancouver Island.

Downtown skyline from my house. Nothing very tall yet, but it's a damn fine city anyways. On clear
days there's a backdrop of the Olympic mountains across the ocean in Washington state.

Downtown buildings, the arena and Victorian-era residential neighborhood. Several large buildings
are proposed for sites just beyond the arena, around the building with the green roof. They will be
the tallest buildings in the city.

Looking west. Visable is University Canada West, which is a private university (the first in the
country I think). There's a great little commercial village down there as well with a grocery store,
movie theatre, many stores and ethnic restaurants. On clear days many layers of hills are visable in
the distance.

There are five tower cranes in this view, if you can spot them all.

That's it! I'll post more and better photos eventually.

yes there really is a difference between living in a dull town/suburb and living in a vibrant inner city area. actually, the street just down from me could use a cleaning up! there's a mangled shopping cart, cardboard boxes and garbage, scrap metal and papers all over the sidewalk that just keeps piling up, plus piles of leaves from autumn. It's great to be back.

Better buy a shovel, rake and some trash bags and get busy!

Good for you Dylan (and us when the photo tours start ). Glad to see some talls will be added to the density your earlier aerials showed. Go Victoria. Thanks.
