Since LittleItalyCleveland forgot his camera, he borrowed mine for our walk around downtown. I'll give just a brief setup:
We did get hassled a little in front of the Wachovia building by a totally clueless security guard (we could have made an issue out of it, but chose not to), and I was just two days removed from a hospital stay. Let's just say I wasn't the best tour guide. I handed him the camera and said, "whatever you feel like."
So it wasn't the longest tour, but I thought you guys might like to see the shots. I'll let Greg come along and comment if he feels like talking about the individual shots, or his impression of Charlotte.
Much love to you all and happy Holidays!
Greg...anything you want to add? Impressions? Image captions?

Thanks for the photos. Great photos, just wish there were more. I graduated from UNC-Charlotte in 1989 and haven't been back since ... even though Charlotte is one of my favorite cities and I would move back in a heartbeat if my career would take me there. It's amazing how Charlotte has grown up since then. I understand there is an enormous amount of residential high rise development going on uptown right now with even a few commercial projects in the works? I would like to see photos of those projects. Emporis never seems to have recent updates, which is a shame with all of the activity.
You COULD bring your black ass down here!! I took the Saturn of doom 3 hour ride of Columbus...the least you could do is hang out in Cracker-town for a day.
JMinger...I worked up a new skyline shot with two of the towers that are under construction, Wachovia's new office tower and their 42 story condo tower:

Fantastic. Charlotte is going to have one of the better skylines in the country. I don't see an end to it either as long as BOFA and Wachovia are headquartered there.
I had no idea I'm such a great photog! the camera was kinda nice too
Well my impression of Charlotte...As I'm eagerly awaiting to land at CLT from CLE I see a skyline in the distance with a tallie that looks like Key. My gracious host picks me up at CLT en route to Rock Hill... by way of I-77. We then drive by this in Charl that kinda looks like this in Cleve
But thats where the similarities end. Charlotte was definately quite impressive, tons of residential highrises currently in progress, what will shape up to be a nice light rail system also in progress. Thats the key word with Charlotte...progressive. I also experienced real southern BBQ in Columbia at the one and only Maurices Piggy Park. As a yankee from the north seeing the confederate flag prominantly displayed at the Piggy Park was...uncommon. It was also uncommon for me to yell at the top of my lungs for the Cocks to go!! Anyways, Charlotte is an amazing city...lots of good things going for it- look forward to another visit. Thanks again to James and his family for being such excellent hosts!
Anyway, glad you had a good time, we'll do it up again next year with a bigger game. Maybe I won't be one day removed from a hospital stay and we can have a better tour.
Tony, you're welcome any time.
Same goes for the rest of you.
