More renderings on Curbed if someone could figure out how to post them, that'd be great. Pretty odd looking building, especially bad when you consider what'll be demolished for this.

"Six months ago, when a corner site south of the World Trade Center sold for $48 million as part of a deal at the old American Stock Exchange, there was no word of what would rise there. But a design from Selldorf Architects has popped up for that plot, rising 54 stories at the corner of Thames and Greenwich. The designs for 22 Thames Street show a prismatic tower, topping out a few feet taller than the W Downtown a half block to the west. On the first five floors, tucked inside a base of irregular glass bays, is retail and residential recreation space, topped by two floors designated for "performing arts."

Rising above and reaching 637 feet, the tower features a faceted facade filled with 428 residential units. Last month the creative team at Selldorf posted a video showing the louvered façade system, a "second skin" controlled by each individual dweller, and described thusly: "Cloaking the façade, a system of operable terracotta louvers animates the building with its changing configurations and reflectivity..."

Should be 200 ft. higher, IMO, but Selldorf is a quality architect, and the final product will likely be nice.

While the renderings look intriguing, I'm really sad about the loss of the existing building here. It really is incredible. There are so many crappy buildings in this little area and they've decided to tear down the arguably the nicest one. This is coming from someone who is normally very pro-development.

I think the building being demolished is being overrated here. Nice, but nothing extraordinary. The only pleasing part is the cornice and arches of the uppermost floor, the rest is heavy and an un ornamented warehouse style building

I actually prefer this modern tower and I'm usually someone who wants to preserve older buildings if they merit it.

I think every building should have something special. At this building it is the facade, at for example the one WTC it is the Form and 432 Park have its High I like all of them and I think a Skyline shouldnt be the Same all Time so it is good to have a collection of much Designs and boxes are Designs too
