CALGARY | First Canadian Centre East Tower | 28 FLOORS

I haven't seen a thread for this project yet.

What do people think?

It's a spectacular design, but it looks to be scarcely taller than 650', which is not tall enough to flaunt its flashly facade, given that it would be surrounded by 500 to 600 footers.

Us Calgarians are hoping it will be about 700' tall. The building to the left (First Canadian Centre 1) is 548' tall, and this one appears to be at least 100' maybe 150' taller so...

I like it. Very bold with strong vertical focus. Nice!

Also take into account that the renderings are not quite accurate in terms of surrounding buildings (the buildings to the right in the first render aren't anywhere near that angle).

But yeah, everyone is hoping for 700'.

Nope, we know its being worked on (one Calgary forumer is/was working for one of the firms involved). More then likely we won't get any public confirmation until very late this year if not next summer.

I am personally hoping for 900', but that is just me. At 900' I find this building to be awesome, but at 700' I find it to be ostentatious when it has no right to be. It would be like a building with a Rudy complex.

I like the design. Very crystalike in massing. Reminds me of BofA in New York, but with a much more interesting facade.

900' would be awesome, I think that's where the original would have been, but rumour has it that this is only 40 or so storeys.

This one would need height...with all that cladding it would look really stumpy if it were only 40 stories

I roughly counted 48 stories on the right side of the render, then the various angles on top, could be 700 feet pretty easily.

As I recall, the original FCC II would have been around 775'.

That's not entirely reliable

Love the orginiality of the design. As most are saying, it needs height to be awesome. It probably won't happen though because if it isn't one thing it's another in Calgary and will probably end up around 600'.

600' would still make it the 5th tallest in the city, and it would look pretty big from the street. The top would be fairly visible in the skyline, but aside from standing right in front of it, you would never get to see the entire building as it is in the densest part of the city, the financial district.

Carlos Ott states 219m on their site: http://200.124.202.19/ott/ott.html

It would make quite the impressive signature on the skyline. 930,000 square feet.

Pretty sure this project is long dead, at least in this form.

Wow, some of you Calgarians are getting pretty height-greedy but I guess getting buildings like the Bow will do that.

What's a "Rudy complex"?
