Share your vision for the future of Dawson Park

January 16, 2017

The City is hosting a drop-in open house to help shape the vision and guiding principles for the Dawson Park/Kinnaird Ravine Master Plan.

Date: Tuesday, January 17, 2017
Time: 5 - 8 p.m.
Location: E4C, Alex Taylor School (9321 Jasper Avenue)

This open house will build on previous public engagement. Edmontonians are invited to provide input on how they use the park and what kinds of improvements they would like to see.

Public input will help the City develop a 25-year vision and management plan to guide development and keep Dawson Park vibrant and enjoyable.

The City also welcomes public feedback through an online mapping tool and public survey. Both are available at edmonton.ca/dawsonparkmasterplan.

The Yorath House in Beauna Vista Park is being completed gutted and redeveloped. Place is fenced off and the building is covered in tarps. the city is extending the sanitary line to the building so that proper washrooms and a commercial quality kitchen will be installed. this will make it possible for a future cafe. There will be a full restoration of the garden as well.

That is the best news of the week maybe, love the idea of it being a riverside cafe.

A 100 meters back but still riverside. The plans I have seen do not currently have a vendor but will have the potential for a cafe.

I still don't really see the point of it and wonder if it will be popular. But I have to agree it does look pretty cool, especially with the viewing platform extended out over the river. hopefully it will be successful and not just cost us a ton to operate/maintain...

Possibly because I spend so much time in the valley I underestimate the number of locals/tourists who don't have a reason to go to the valley and now they do.

So what's the next addition to the valley gonna be. Maybe that rope park is moving forward in the southwest?

And the first dock hits the water this weekend. The rowing Club is launching their Saturday Morning.

I do hope that there was someone looking at the issues the ERC had over the years with their dock, before the City docks are installed.

Is the funicular free of cost for use?
It would help cyclists get out of the river valley now that the high level bridge is ruined.
I wish we had another top of bank to top of bank bridge.

Have to say it sucks that most of Louise McKinney Park is closed for construction. There's the LRT construction, funicular construction plus other work going on. The Shumka stage and Chinese Garden are open. I think the public building with the shop, cafe and washrooms are open, but unless I'm going blind I couldn't find any walkable access to it.
