Thought I read somewhere (might have been in this thread) that this building would be all cast concrete. If so, there won't be much steel.

You definitely read it on here BOI-IDA. Architecture Buff had posted the news a few weeks ago. I believe it was after he had talked to an engineer. I would quote AB but looking back I could not find the post. But yes it will be all concrete just like the Aspen next door.

It will be interesting to see the new Simplot Headquarters begin to rise above ground this year. There is some nice density forming along Front Street.

Unhappy JUMP taking longer than planned.

Per KTVB, the completion date for JUMP and Simplot HQ has been pushed out until Spring 2016. Primary reason cited: the complexity of the project.

Full story: http://www.ktvb.com/story/news/local...nned/24151269/

KTVB says both will be completed by then. That may be true for JUMP, but I don't see how the HQ buildings will be finished by then. We're only talking a little more than a year from now. With the HQ buildings being cast concrete, rather than steel, it will be more like 18-24 months until completion. But I could be wrong...actually, I hope I'm wrong!

Rendering from Adamson and Associates

Mark Bowen from JUMP was nice enough to send me an email saying:
" HQ is scheduled for late fall 2016".

Simplot World Headquarters

Some changes done by Adamson & Associates in these renderings, such as the floors at 11th and Front go straight up to 9 levels. Some window changes etc..

I much prefer the clean lines of the earlier renderings. The asymmetric, concrete looking/glass combo still makes me think of a government institution for holding criminals. I know that sounds harsh, but the corporate headquarters project concerns me. I hope the real deal is better than the rendering imho.

^^^ Couldn't agree more. It's not even built yet and it's already cold and outdated.

Simplot HQ

I also wish it was more glass, but it is a precast build. Looking at the web site for Adamson & Associates, their buildings are very modern using glass. Maybe the client (Simplot Company) wanted a more 50's corporate look showing a strong company with this precast concrete heavy look.
I hope it turns out looking great as this is a major building for downtown.

Here are some photos showing the foot print of the building beginning to take shape:
