I hope that I am presuming correctly, . .
concerning the wide concrete wall, rising up through the middle
of 220 CPS's southern facade, . . From what I see so far, . .
there is going to be faux windows gleaming galore . .
(it appears that about 4 out of 7 windows per floor will be "fake" . .
multiplied by 65 floors) . .

With all those glass "surrogate-openings" dark at night . .
the South front, facing Times Sq. and CPT, . .
will have a noticeably unlighted vertical stripe . .
Really not bad at all, . . IF, for aesthetic purposes, .
all 4 sides of the building have uniformly patterned fenestration . .
not only for an opulent appearance in daylight . .
but also to reflect back a bit of the city's glimmering at night . .

This extra, seemingly unnecessary, "glass trimmed in stone" fenestration, .
is a really important, generous, and necessary design feature . .
Concerning this aspect, I'm hoping that there is no ". . otherwise . ." . .

Looks like its 470-500 ft to the top so far. About half of One57's height or close to it.

It looks closer to 600 feet tall already. For comparison, Carnegie Hall Tower is 757 feet tall, and Cityspire is 814. Also compare 220's height to Time Warner Center towers, each of which are 750 feet tall.

This is going to be one sexy tower. Midtown is going to start looking very Star Trekesque soon.

Just yesterday I visited the DC Tower 1, Austria's tallest building at 220m (722ft), and thought "damn that's one tall tower, it looks amazing". But in New York it wouldn't even crack the top 50.

Anyway, 220 CPS should have cracked the 600' mark by now!

This will be a fantastic edition to the skyline. Long live Art Deco!

All we need now is for someone to finish the Metropolitan Life North Tower...

"Windows"

This building, or at least part of it, may turn out to be somewhat odd. The portion of the facade to the west of the tower crane on 58th Street is solid cement as it is poured. That makes sense if it is the southern wall of the utility and elevator core. The facade installed over the concrete in that area, however, contains fake "windows." I have no idea how that will end up looking when the building is complete, but it is strange to look at now. Will the "glass" installed in these spots look like the other openings? Will there be fake lighting? Curious.
