From the sounds of it, groundbreaking is right after the new year.

This is great news! Are there any updated renderings being released?

Good news indeed. I'm sure there will be more released...I'm guessing there will eventually be a website specifically just for SoBro.

The news we all have been waiting for. The Nashville Post is reporting that Tony Giarratana's 33 story luxury apartment tower will begin construction late February...

Developer targets late-February start for SoBro luxury apartment tower
http://nashvillepost.com/blogs/postb...partment_tower

Quote:
Giarratana Development is targeting a late February start on its proposed luxury apartment tower SoBro.

Tony Giarratana, Giarratana Development president, said the company has received all Metro Planning Department and Metro Development and Housing Agency approvals with the exception of the west façade of the parking structure.
Quote:
“We submitted revisions two weeks ago and we hope to get approved this week,” he said. “We’ve told MDHA we can start by late February or early March.”

Giarratana Development originally had hoped to break ground by the end of 2013.

Giarratana is working with Chicago-based Magellan Development Group LLC on the 33-story SoBro, which would include 342 luxury rental apartment units, 378 parking spaces and more than 18,000 square feet of Class A, ground-level retail space.
Quote:
SoBro is planned to rise adjacent to both the Encore condominium tower to the west and The Pinnacle at Symphony Place office skyscraper to the north. The building would be bordered by Demonbreun Street on the north, Second Avenue on the east and Third Avenue on the west.

The development team has enlisted Chicago-based Loewenberg Architects to handle design work.

So as far as the tower is concerned, I'm guessing the 2nd design is the one that will be constructed; which I don't have a problem with. I'm curious to see what if any altercations are made to the west facade of the parking garage...that would be facing directly toward Encore. I don't know what the problem would be with its original design, but I'm not familiar with the design details nor the design guidelines for SoBro (the neighborhood). Maybe the city wants the parking garage facade facing west to be concrete.

Apparently, core drilling is taking place at the site here. This can probably be moved into the U/C section.

Only if this work is directly related to the structures's foundation.

No new developments, but today I did notice several dozen, if not near 100 or more, markings on sidewalks and roads around the site for utilities and underground doings around the site. I'm not sure if that has any bearing on things but could be telling.

Things are heating up now. Hundreds of utilities markings around the site and as recently as last week, a rep from the company was on site with workers from NES, Nashville Electric Service.

McHugh, Magellan's preferred GC, has leased space and can expect this to break ground within the next 2-4 weeks.

No doubt. It's been a long wait, but it's well worth it. This will be a nice addition to the skyline and will add some density to SoBro.

The contractor, McHugh has set up an office in SoBro so construction should be starting soon. Maybe sometime this month or in July.

Workers have reportedly been marking off the site and using ground-penetrating radar. Sounds like this one may be getting going soon.

Financing all wrapped up for this one. It will start as soon as the permits are issued according to the Tennessean. Can someone update the title and rendering on this one? It should be 33 floors and the rendering is still the old one.

Here's the latest rendering:

This is all good. Groundbreaking the first week of August? Possibly sooner...
