Great news for downtown today. Block 387 looks very nice and I'm glad that Hines Market Square is finally starting construction.

Massive $450 million expansion of MFAH. Looks amazing, should be a great bonus for our city.

Lot's of recent great news. My favorite is definitely MFAH. Though Amegy Bank is also looking good.

It appears so. Chron used a different rendering, but the one above is from the developers website.

Great Southwest Building: The building may finally be redeveloped.

http://bizbeatblog.dallasnews.com/20...ew-deals.html/

Quote:
Todd Interests, which is nearing completion of the redevelopment of One Dallas Center in downtown Dallas into apartments and office space, is in "hot in pursuit of another development deal – this one in Houston."

They are looking to do more creative redevelopments and one of the deals on the table is the Petroleum Building (more recently known as the Great Southwest Building) in downtown Houston. They are looking to redevelop it into residential or hospitality.

Is this supposed to be student housing or are they just making the student housing developer boast on their website as an aside?

So the price of oil drops to $45 a barrel, and all this development breaks loose. One would hardly know the town's supposed to be hit by a recession.

Just wait. All these projects long ago already had financing but I think we will see a slow down or halt on new projects until oil $$ goes back up.

It takes a moment before a downturn actually set in. You'll see a decrease in the number of projects proposed over the next 6 months or so.
