Looks like they're tearing down the Wendy's on SE Marine and Ontario. Redevelopment?

Probably renovations, Drive Thrus in CoV are too valuable.

Wendys is currently under a RenoPhase, Alberni, Grandview and Kingsway already have gone through them

That location has gone through so many restaurants, it's a bit ridiculous.

Side note:
The old Il Giardino has been demolished (the yellow house is still standing)

Indeed. It's not like we need another ubiquitous craft beer pub either. How many hipster wannabees can an economy support?

When I walked by Subeez Cafe (corner of Homer and Smithe, downtown Vancouver) tonight I noticed they were closed and had a legal notice of some sort in the window.

Subeez = sad face.

That place used to be amazing years ago, but really seemed to have lost its mojo in the last five years.

I agree. Not sure what happened but they hardly had any marketing and promos, food was meh. With the loosening of happy hour regulations they had a real chance to re-boot themselves.

I imagine their rent was big on a place that size though...

Here's hoping there's a great replacement, it's a cool space.

Their patio was never very inviting although it is south-facing and sunny. Not sure if glass walls would reduce the noise from Smithe, like they have done at Boston Pizza Theater District.

We used to go there back in 1999. My friend was a waitress there, and it really was the "cool" place to eat. It had a good run.

Yeah, restaurants don't live forever. A decade or two is a success.

Talking about Boston Pizza, I have to say that their online ordering system is one of the best ones I have seen. They give you the option to select everything with clear photos of the different foods. And they promise it to be ready in 20 minutes, which seems quite accurate based on my two tries.

It is worth a try if you loath some takeout.

It's too bad that they're so friggin expensive for what you get, however. At least they're open late.

Tap & Barrel Lower Lonsdale said they're gonna have a soft opening next week.

These are the first interior photos I've seen

@FreshTAP

@TAPshipyards

Even if the food is not for everyone it should add a lot of life to the foot of Lonsdale and pull people over from the Quay.

This is huge for me since I bought in the area back in 2005 with the promise of the shipyards area. That building has sat empty for a decade due to soil issues. Nice to finally see it coming together.

I guess Cactus Club, Earl's, Samurai, Stepho's, Tropika, Banana Leaf must be whopping successes! They've been around forever, and still very popular.

Not sure when has Boston Pizza in Whistler closed down? It is now replaced by some other pizza place. Not really nothing to feel sad about, but found it interesting.

Not really a restaurant question, but how come there is only ONE single gas station in a busy destination like Whistler? There are two even in Pemberton. How is Husky able to keep a monopoly in Whistler?

There will be a Chevron opening soon in the Rainbow development (5 minutes north of the village), along with a new grocery store and some other retail.

Oh, cool. Didn't know about that and it didn't catch my eye on my way to Pemberton yesterday. Good to see Whistler growing with more services.

Every. Single. Day.

Whoever owns that franchise must be rolling in dough. If only I would know anything about running a restaurant, I would establish another Chipotle in Downtown or in Olympic Village.

How is the one in Metrotown doing?

Both are company owned, as all Chipotle locations are.
