Wondering if there's any information on a tract of land directly across the street from the Toyota plant that appears to be under development? They just finished laying the foundation for a building and it's seems to be about 2 or 3 football fields in size.

I've heard 3 things: It's an a/c and heater supplier for Toyota, it's an a/c and heater manufacturing facility unrelated to Toyota, and it could just be a distribution center for a/c's.

The Medical Foundation is looking to make the Medical Center more pedestrian friendly. The firm the hired for the plan has done some high-profile properties - TBG Inc.

The City is also considering options for creating density in that part of town. Fun times ahead for the main job center in the city.

TBG looks to ‘Enliven’ the South Texas Medical Center
Tricia Lynn Silva

Entitled STMC Enliven, this document represents a multi-phase, multimillion-dollar template for turning the 900 acres that make up the Medical Center into a vibrant, thriving health-care community.
...
From the signage, to the layout of the roads, to the public spaces within the Medical Center, the focus will be on finding ways to get visitors and employees out of their cars and on to pedestrian-friendly streetscapes that will connect the various facilities and institutions that make up the Medical Center.

SeaWorld Orcas, get your sweatbands ready.

SeaWorld 's announcement Friday that it is renovating and revamping the environments for the killer whales at their three U.S. properties includes a "fast water current" for them to swim against, acting somewhat as a whale treadmill.

The company's Blue World Project, an initiative to increase engagement and interaction, would nearly double the size of the whale's current environment.

The environment, with 10 million gallons of water, will stand 50 feet deep on 1.5 acres of surface area. The renovations also include a 40-foot-high viewing gallery for guests to look under and around the whales.
NEW KILLER WHALE EXHIBIT

WILL INCLUDE A 40-FOOT VIEWING GLASS WALL

NEW SEA LION EXHIBIT

NEW DOLPHIN EXHIBIT WILL ALSO FEATURE VIEWING GLASS WALL

I guess all that political backlash is making them expand as a compromise. I guess this opens up another question, aren't we in the middle of a serious drought? Thats gonna be a lot of additional water being used for something that many people today would call questionable in the first place

I wasn't sure where those renderings came from of the new stadium up there, but here's a link that shows those three plus an aerial view of the stadium.

THE DWELL AT LEGACY BREAKS GROUND

Quote:
The Dwell at Legacy, an 8-acre, 289-unit apartment project by Embrey Partners, is scheduled to open June 2015 at The Legacy, the retail center at the northeast corner of Loop 1604 and U.S. 281. Developer Santikos Real Estate Services hopes the apartments, which will include one- and two-bedroom units ranging in size from 500 to 1,200 square feet, complement the tenants — including Best Buy, Main Event, Life Time Fitness, Spec's and Stone Street Pub & Grill — already doing business at the 100-acre Legacy.

Been to that Main Event several time. Looked like something was going there in terms of residential.

Looks like it could be similar to the Domain, (I think that's what it is called ), in Austin.
