It's such an ugly suburban design it would be great if it were demo'd and something a bit more appropriate built in its place...
I assume it will be sold for redevelopment.

This video store, which I'm not mistaken is the only active business in this building is having a store closing sale. I believe Brickstone owns this building as well (or at least trying to buy it) Whatever happens, I hope they keep the facade at least....

Love the quote by the Dalian partner, Brady Nolan...."I know its overstated, but the three keys to a good real estate project are location, location, and Whole Foods"!!

Good to see that progress on chestnut. Got to be one of the most important projects in CC right now.

Another view i took of 15th and Walnut, yesterday:

From the start of the demo to now, has to be almost a full year. And, as you can see, it does not look like it's anywhere near ready to rise out of the ground yet. I'm eager to see how this building turns out: a modernist glass cube amidst the classic stone canyon of Walnut Street.

Progress has been slow at 15th and walnut. I was wondering why it took so long to bring down the existing buildings.

Agreed. With all due respect to all the great things going on around the City. The developments in the East Market area are going to be real game changers. This, the gallery, Girard Square and Mellon Independence will all be huge. Maybe not as much skyline wise, but for growth of the city wise this is great.

I too, agree. It is true that Market East will not have a large effect on the skyline. But it is very cool looking, and most of all, what it is replacing needs to be replaced.

due to the lack of surrounding tall buildings the apts at Mellon will stand out quite a bit. Even though it's only 32 floors (i believe), it will be sitting on top of the existing building so that gives it some additional height. East of Aramark and the Loews there isn't much of note in terms of multistory buildings on market.

Not sure if renderings have been posted, but this is actually a pretty huge development on a long vacant prime lot at 13th and South Street. The development is called 1240 South.

Renderings from developer:

I am trying to post my first pic on SSP in a long time. I took this pic from the roof of my neighbor's house. I tried to shrink it too so that it doesn't display too large. Here it goes...

Took long enough! Hopefully I can continue to post some pics.

Naked Philly says a new mixed-use development with 53 units, 3,100 square feet of commercial space, and 36 parking spaces (a 2:3 ratio right near the Girard Ave El station) has been proposed for the huge former lumber yard site at 3rd and Girard. A five-story structure will front onto Girard, with four-story triplexes on each side.

Perhaps someone with photoshop skills could photoshop PhillyDrew's picture above to show us how the skyline will look once the SLS, W, and CITC are present. I believe they would all be visible from this angle. Thanks in advance tech-wizards.
