I noticed that too, but on browsing their webpage, I got the impression that they are moving their business from Texas to Moncton, which is kind of mind-blowing.

They have a couple of Youtube videos on their Facebook page where they allude to "moving the manor". Here's the second one:

I'm not sure if this is a seasonal business or not. Time will tell.........

My understanding is, they bought the whole production, packed up everything and permanently moving to Moncton.

I see there is another largish (four storey) apartment building under construction on Diamond Head Court. Construction in fact is nearly complete - I just hadn't noticed it before........

With the recently completed apartment building in behind Diamond Head on Mountain Road, that now gives a cluster of four large adjacent apartment buildings in that area. There's probably room for another couple more as well.

Well they can't say the construction industry is dead in Moncton. I'm just wondering why there still building I do believe there are still Units available in the other buildings. Or those might actually be re-sale listings.

Has anyone else noticed that there is a new sign over the entry to the performance centre at Casino NB?

It would appear that the performance auditorium at the casino is now named the Molson Canadian Centre.

This website (Pollstar) which tracks concert dates in North America refers to the performance space at Casino NB as the "Molson Canadian Centre" too.

I'm not positive but I think I may have noticed that naming a few weeks back when I saw Weird Al down there. Had no idea if it was new or old or what.

The Molson Canadian Centre

I believe the naming has to do with the beer contract that they signed with Molson as new beer supplier after the 5 year contract was up with Moosehead.

The good farmer may well be correct as they've also dropped the name Mooser from their pub.
Too bad, I'd rather drink Moosehead but at least Molson bottles are brewed in N.B. (I believe the cans are done elsewhere.)

Been like that for a while. It was renamed a couple of months ago.

I went up to Magic Mountain today to get a Beavertail at their new location and took a look around phase one of their new fun zone. Here are a few pictures.

They are still uncrating the place and phases two and three won't be completed for another couple of years, but I must admit that I am very impressed at how this new addition will integrate seamlessly with the existing "splash zone" (water park), the mini golf course and even the Magnetic Hill Zoo. The quality seems very high, and once some of the larger rides such as the wave swinger and the ferris wheel are installed, there will be no other place like this in the Maritimes.

The place was absolutely packed today. It might not look like it from my photos, but there were virtually no parking spaces, and cars were parked along the roadway and in the overflow area. The zoo had another line up halfway across the parking lot today waiting to pay admission to get in.

I'd say Magnetic Hill is having a banner year this year......

Beautiful photo's MonctonRad. It might be because I've worked at Crystal Palace before, and have seen the rides indoors to me it looks strange to have the rides outside.

I'm hearing the Zombie Manor has run into delays and will only be open for business in 2016. Location not at the wharf village, but rather independent new building somewhere next to the actual magnetic hill road. On the left or right hand side, not sure which side.

Not surprised by this. I thought things looked too quiet up there, even if they had planned to use a temporary location for this year.

It would be best to wait and do things right rather than doing a half assed rush job. Patrons will expect a top notch experience and first impressions can be everything in the entertainment business. The investors already have a lot of capital tied up in the venture just from buying the business and relocating all the fixtures from Texas, so a year's wait may be difficult but might be the wisest business choice in the long run.

I have a little concern however if they plan to build close to the Magnetic Hill Road. The illusion is after all an optical illusion, and new construction next to the roadway might interfere with the optics. They should think about this before building, and perhaps get an opinion if this could be a possibility........

A request for variance is coming up before the September meeting of the Moncton PAC to allow for rezoning of this parcel of land on Front Mountain Road (immediately behind the Magic Mountain parking lot) to accomodate construction of a "Nordic Spa".

Interesting! Scandinavian style spas are extremely popular in Québec. It would be a great location for one. Here are a few examples :

I will most certainly use it if it resembles the examples shown above.

This new spa will be called the Usva Spa. I have no other information on this.

There could be some interesting symmetry here given that the Magnetic Hill Winery is literally two door down the street. Patrons can go get mellow at the spa, and then after their session, get even more mellow at the winery next door.

There is an article in today's T&T about the PumpHouse's new winery that's in the works. They're are planning for a winery with underground storage and a full european-style restaurant on Lutz mountain. Another attraction to build on the recent success of the Magnetic Hill area.

That's interesting. Their vineyards are already planted on a plot of land bounded by Timberline Road, Whitfield Trites Road and Mountain Road, not too far from the Magnetic Hill Winery on Front Mountain Road, and the vines seem to be doing well. It's a well drained, fertile, south facing slope and probably one of the best places for viticulture in the province. It would be nice if another couple of wineries in the area could follow suit. A concentration of wineries in the area would be good for foodie tourism.

Regardless, the Magnetic Hill area has certainly changed in the last few years. Now we have a casino, wineries, and a European themed restaurant and a Nordic spa in the works to complement the zoo, water park and the events site. Throw in the new amusement park rides salvaged from Crystal Palace and the planned Zombie Manor and you certainly get an eclectic mixture for tourism in the northwest Moncton area.......
